Shoes are way too wide towards the toe end of the shoes, and the laces can only get them so tight. The heel is made of hard plastic and digs into my heel/Achilles tendon and there isnt much padding to prevent this, my heels were bleeding after about a 2 mile hike. The shoes are a lot heavier than they look, the sole is extremely ridged and there isnt much cousion under the foot. I would send these back, but I am a merchant mariner and my ship sails tomorrow so I cant send them back and will have to deal with them. I will update after they break in. Over all I am very disappointed and wouldn't recommend them.
I like them so far. The fitment is not the best for my feet. I might have to go down a size if I buy these again. The toe seems loose/wide. I like the quick lace up feature, but it's not enough for my preference. I replaced my laces with Xpand laces. Since shoes actually stretch and feet may swell through the day. The laces keeps them consistent.
I bought these as a replacement for my old work shoes. I work in a warehouse. I left and move nearly 100,000 lbs of freight in average. I take over 30,000 steps a day.
Most people dont know that warehouse work as order filler/picker/selector is surprising harsh on shoes. The wood pallets slow tear the shoes up when you bump them while stepping or nudging the pallet or case to move it. I'm what you call "goofy footed". My left foot goes forward first when stepping into racks to grab cases or when reaching. My left shoes is always destroyed first. I'm going on 6 years of this work and I've never had a shoe last more than 10 months.
Take note, its recommend to replace a shoe after 300 to 500 miles of walking. I walk 15 miles a day at work. That means I should be getting a new pair every 20 to 33 work days. This is because the sole and cushions wear out. I replace my insoles often. But that doesn't matter when the main sole Is too wore out. It will effect your steps negatively either way.
I've already had these for a couple months. They are holding up well like they should. I will try my best to update this when I finally replace them.
Fit perfect out of the box. Not very comfortable when you are on your feet 10hrs a day. Some gel inserts fixed that. Im not sure about the "cool" being black shoes, in the summer on blacktop and concrete they are just as hot as any other shoes. The quick lace idea is good, but they have to be tightened numerous times a day.
I'm rating this on what I've observed and and been told. I bought these because they come highly recommended by several of the guys in the shop. I'll wear them for a month or so and if I find that 5 stars is more generous than deserved I'll update my review.
Update: I've been in steel toe safety shoes and / or boots pretty much every work day since 1975; these are the most comfortable work shoes I have ever worn - can I add a sixth star!
I wore them for 9 months on concrete all day. Very rugged EXCEPT FOR THE SHOELACE EYELETS, they WILL rip out. I found other saftey shoes with composite toe , much lighter for all day concrete torture. These are lighter than steel toe boots, but by no means light. People who say they are light may hallucinating.?
The heel of the shoe rubs and you can not get them tight enough to keep them from rubbing the back of your heel. They are also listed as 100% waterproof leather and mesh but the shoes are not waterproof and that was a big decision for buying these shoes. They're very uncomfortable and I am very disappointed I have wanted a pair of Keen shoes for a long time now and to get these shoes and them be that bad I will never buy keen shoes again nor will I ever recommend them to anyone I contacted keen about the issues I was having but they declined my warrenty this is also the ONLY pair of steel toe shoes I have and I have to wear steel toe at work so I can not send them back to amazon for a refund I am a long time prime member and a very disappointed one too
Bought these after going through 2 pairs of the timberlands which the soles on them did not hold up after 6-10 months. Other coworkers told me about Keens. Very comfortable and light on my feet. Looks like the soles will hold up for a long time. The only downfall I would say is having to always tighten the shoe laces due to the no tie laces mechanism.
So I orgered what I thought was 12M as indicated on the size drop down menu but I got 12D instead. And my husband normally wears a 12M. They were huge on him on the sides. He had the laces on tight as they go with thick socks on and they were too roomy on the sides. Apparently there's no option for 12M and according to the Keen website site, 12D is their "regular" width. So no Keen for us. Back to New Balance for us.
