I've had the issue of hot sweaty feet forever. Now I love my redwings, but that thick heavy leather is just too much. I was looking for something breathable to prevent some sweaty stinky feet. These with a pair of good socks (power so cool Mac) have been my savior.
PROS: - I was a little hesitant of their pull string tie system. I trimmed a bit off the laces and put the plastic clasp back on, to prevent it from bouncing around, and they've really grown on me. Fast and easy to tie - Super comfortable. Probably the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. Like steel toed running sneakers. They feel like they practically propel you forward - definitely the coolest shoes I own. Not perfect, but I'm yet to fine anything better. - traction feels great for now
CONS: - God they're ugly. I'm a fan of the simple looking boot style, these look like they're styled for children - they're shockingly heavy. I'm not sure why they don't have a composite toe instead of steel, it seems like a much better fit for these.
NOTES: Despite the weight, these are still very comfortable to wear all day. My feet feel brand new after taking them off. THEY MAY BE UNCOMFORTABLE FOR THOSE WITH VERY FLAT FEET, at first. But might make your feet feel better after the long run.
The main reason I took off a star is because of how stupid they look. But I'll deal with that for the cool feet
I have several pair of these. They last a long time. My employer buys a new pair every year and the old pair is never worn out. My dog is the only thing that can absolutely kill a pair of these shoes. I work field service for a major soft drink distributor and these shoes last a very long time. I recently started a night gig with a local rail road and anticipate these will last despite the constant bombardment of rail road rock and varying weather conditions. They look very nice and I often joke about wearing them everywhere including church which is actually true. I recommend a good pair of ensouls just to ensure the longevity of the wearer. I have found a good pair of ensouls is a good way to extend the life of the shoe and the ergonomic comfort of the wearer.
I work at a job where steel/safety toe shoes are required, and I can't wear boots anymore because of shin splints. A couple coworkers recommended Keen shoes to me, and I found these Cool models because my feet sweat easily. I've had them for 2 weeks and they're the most comfortable work shoes I've bought yet. I've tried Puma and Reebok, and they both wore out and were unbearably foul after 6 only months. I'm hoping these will hold out for longer..
My job requires that I stay on my feet for the entire shift. Having to wear a cheap pair of shoes just makes it difficult to perform my duties with grace and equanimity. For me, there's nothing more important than physical comfort for the foundation of my entire body., my feet. KEEN work shoes are the REAL DEAL, with steel toes for safety, and comfort the two most important features. These shoes are worth EVERY PENNY of the $130 I spent for them. I would encourage you to try on a pair of KEENs, and experience "work nirvana" just like me!
The laces broke on one of the shoes after maybe only 2 months. Keen said they'd send me a new pair of laces. After a couple weeks, I asked for a status update. Another week passed and I got a a customer service survey. Lol, ok!
Shoe had great reviews that’s why I purchased. They are the most uncomfortable work shoe I’ve ever had. Soles are almost non existent I replaced with new ones hoping it would help and it didn’t. Rubbed blisters on two toes. If they were fifty dollar shoes I’d understand. Will never buy this again way over priced.
Not as impressed with these Keens as some others I've purchased. Also had other steel toe work shoes that were light weight and comfortable that I liked better. Primary drawback for me right now is that the laces fell apart on one of the shoes within a couple months. I would have liked to see these shoes last me a year and I'm not sure they will make it even close to that before I retire them.
Aside from those stupid laces (easy to replace), I really like these shoes. I always put a set of superfeet in my shoes since I have high arches and skinny feet, but there was zero wear in- good to go right out of the box without any discomfort. People without skinny feet might like these laces more than I do, but when I make them tight and walk fast, they loosen and my feet start wanting to fall out. Once I put normal laces on them, they were even better shoes and they last a long time compared to similar steel toe shoes.
