Make the tines longer to make the pitch lower, make the tines shorter to make the pitch higher. |
Hold and Play KalimbaHold the Kalimba thumb piano in both hands and flick the key with your thumb inger nail (as shown in the picture). It is recommended that the length of your nails be 2-3 mm. This will make clean sound and won't hurt your thumb. |
Using the Glissando to Play ChordsThe glissando is a technique by which you pluck several keys at once to make a chord. Any 3 adjacent tines will play a wonderful triad chord - we use the nail slides through the thumb piano keys to make a sound. |
Wah-wah PerformanceKalimba has a main sound hole and two back sound holes. You can wave the thumb up and down above the main sound hole while playing. To make " Wah sound, put your two middle fingers around the back sound hole and wave around it while playing. |
