King Soba Organic 100 Percent Buckwheat Noodles are generally considered one of the most nourishing `fast foods' on earth. Despite its name, buckwheat is not a type of wheat but instead a seed of a broadleaf plant. It has been proven to be high in protein, fibber, and minerals such as magnesium. Along with typical Asian style dishes, try swapping pasta for these noodles and enjoy a robust spaghetti pasta dish, that's healthy too.

Some bad news...please be advised that these noodles are Made in China. Prior to COVID, there were Amazon buyers with concerns about buying food items from China, because they are, well, sometimes less than honest about some things. Like about things being ORGANIC. These noodles are sold as being Organic. And now since COVID, there are some people who are MUCH more concerned about ANY dealings with China. Depending on what you believe, you will either buy Chinese products now, or not. I like these noodles enough, that I continue to want to buy them. What bothers me, is that the seller is placing stickers OVER the Made in China printing, on the packages. When I pulled their sticker off, it said Made in China underneath. THAT to me is just plain WRONG.
More bad news...I bought an order of these noodles in February, 2020, and another in March. BOTH of these were 24.98, for 6 packages of 3 servings each. I looked recently, and the price on Amazon had jumped to $41!!! WOW!! As of today, it is still almost $37. There is a term, for when the price of things goes ARTIFICIALLY way up, under these kinds of circumstances. I am not going to say it, because this review would probably get blocked. Let's just say, that I am extremely disappointed, that this has been allowed to occur, while the COVID emergency is still raging.
So...if you like soba noodles (and who wouldn't,) I find these to be excellent, and very tasty. If you are concerned about buying food (or anything) from China, then be advised that these noodles come from there. And if you are concerned about artificially over priced products, you may want to wait a bit, and see if the price of these noodles comes closer back to earth. They are still a bit sky high, at the moment. I hope this helps.
So, the price for these delicious noodles are fair. Having compared to others online, the great thing about King Soba is that this is one of the few that is 100% buckwheat ie gluten free. Until I move to a place with better availability, I will certainly buy again.
earthy, nutty flavor I love in good soba. Great price, too, when bought in the six-pack.
If you cook them and then serve immediately, you'll end up with a dense sticky starchy noodlemass that you'll want to slice with a knife or eat like a pancake. Follow the instructions and rinse them in cold water after cooking, and they'll act a lot more noodly.
Most of the soba I find are not pure buckwheat. Why might you care? Some wheat makes them easier to cook (rinsing isn't as important), but buckwheat works really well in my body: it keeps me full and strong if I'm doing anything active. These and a couple of eggs make me pretty unstoppable (relatively speaking ;). Also, I personally find them delicious and versatile: they take various sauces well. I'm currently eating these with a bunch of veggies out of my freezer (peas, squash, brussels sprouts, shiitakes), fresh ginger, soy sauce, Sichuan peppercorns, chilis, soy sauce. Sorry it's so healthy, but it's really tasty!
May the Lord bless you with his Noodly Appendage!
