There is a learning curve when switching from regular shampoo - you don't have a detergent doing the work for you, so it takes some time and elbow grease. Use about twice as much product, and really take a few minutes to work it in, making sure to get down to the scalp in all areas. Keep adding water as you scrub to thin out the product so that it reaches your scalp. Scrubbing is the only way to come out with really clean hair. Scrub scrub scrub, then rinse rinse rinse. I have very fine, very straight, very dark hair, and because those traits combine to make obvious even the tiniest bit of oil, I have to wash daily.
I got the EverPure Cleansing Balm, and it works about the same as most cleansing conditioners I have tried, but this stuff has SUCH a strong perfume. It isn't exactly unpleasant, not too flowery, more like a unisex scent, but so overpowering! And it lingers in your hair long after you leave the shower. Because I find the strength of the scent too intense, I probably won't buy this again. I prefer the lighter scent of Herbal Essences cleansing conditioner.
