To be simple; a fantastic addition to the Halo universe.
It has been quite some time since a Halo story entirely focused around any Spartans, let alone Spartan II's. The release of this ahead of Halo 5: Guardians was a great way to remind fans that the Spartan II's, and even III's, despite their differences from normal humans, are still very human.
The temperament and relationships between Fred, the Gammas, and Veta were all very fun and interesting to read, painting a great picture of how the two first groups of Spartans have evolved as people.
The entire situation on Gao was another wonderfully executed piece. It painted the situation of Human expansion in a very interesting manner. And obviously the post war state has lead to interesting social and political developments across all Human worlds.
The only real down point I found was Intrepid Eye, which seemed ironic considering the story was about finding her. Her involvement seemed unfocused, but still interesting in itself. Wendell was also an odd inclusion. He was written similarly in usage to BB from the Kilo-Five trilogy, so it felt suggested that he was a smart AI, but there was never much clarity on him.
But I loved how there were elements of the Kilo-Five trilogy (which was a huge let down) that were really elevated in relevance and enjoyment in this book.

One of my favourite Halo books

Last light is is really well written book focusing on a smaller scale story than many of its predecessors. This really helps when introducing the various Spartans and Inspector Lopis. It still had plenty of kick ass action but the story is really about the Spartans and learning a little more about what was done to them.
It also serves as a starting point for the return of Blue team that played such a big role in Halo 5.

Very happy about reading this book; It had beloved old characters as well as new ones I've as inspector Veta Lopis (my new favourite character in the halo universe). The over all story was great and lots of new information about the halo universe! And dying to know what happens to the characters and 'things', perhaps more books?

Not bad at all

Definitely enjoyable, and worth a read.
I'm not sure how much it added to the HALO story as a whole. But an enjoyable ride.
I read this and Halo:Hunters In The Dark, I actually preferred that one slightly, but still, two great books.

One of the best halo books i have ever read

One of the best halo books i have ever read, i love the main character, and i want to see so much more of her, whether thats in a game, or a book. the plot was excellent, and really helped to understand some aspects of the halo universe better, such as the anti-UEG/UNSC feelings on the colonies. over all great, and i hope that in some way there is a continuation of this story, and it's characters.
