LitRPG is a genre of variable quality. This book absolutely belongs at the top end of the bell curve. Physicist Will Jenkins* has an experimental interface implanted in his brain giving him a link with an AI. A super-LHC experiment with the usual caveat - could wipe out this corner of the universe - does. Reincarnated (in an actual believable sense) thanks to the AI on a world in a universe with added magic has him trying to form hypotheses, experiment to confirm, and build a general theory of relativity incorporating magic... while trying, often successfully, to avoid being eaten. It's all very "shades of Andy Weir", and possibly even more fun.

I am hoping for a sequel. "The Archon Book 1" is definitely a promising sign there, so take your time Mr Stal. You write it, I'll read it!

*My one gripe is that the AI isn't named Joe. Unfortunately it seems that while the main character's name is Will Jenkins, this isn't a sly reference to the author who wrote under the pseudonym Murray Leinster. Among other achievements (e.g. first to imagine the Universal Translator) Leinster/Jenkins wrote "A Logic Named Joe" in 1946. That story had an AI spontaneously arising from the Internet. Of course Joe was a "logic" because back then a computer was a person who did mathematical calculations for a living. And phone calls were mediated by switchboard operators so an internet was unimaginable... unless you were William Jenkins.

I don't tend to write a lot of reviews for books. Generally being too lazy to be honest.

I find that I feel that being this entertained for this long of a period is for as small a sum as charged leaves me feeling like I owe something to Dominic Stal (author).

Please bear with the story initially, it is slow for a little while but is laying some really good groundwork. Also people talk about the whiny main character. This character is completely believable to me as someone experienced with the difficulties those with a mental illness have to go through. He writes as though perhaps him or someone close has experienced this.

Highly recommended and I can't wait for the next one.

Yes there are a few spelling errors, no I did not report them as I did not find them disruptive to my enjoyment of what is truly an excellent story and hopefully the start of an epic arc of books.

Started a bit slow with a character struggling mentally and emotionally it bogged down the pace as issues kept resurfacing, which as with life is the case. The strength of the characters is another personal preference, exponential growth resulted in rapid advancement during the story.
All in all I enjoyed it, it was a different take from what I’ve read so far in the genre.

I've read just short of a thousand litrpg or cultivation books at this point. This is in the top 10 for drawn out internal monologues and repetitive conversation. Every fight came out of no where. One moment you're reading 3 chapters of 1 conversation, the next he's at deaths door... again. The mc is so obsessed with being a white Knight that he constantly ham strings himself. I can understand why others might love this book but it's 100% not my type.
