Using the 4mm Allen Key Bit to try to undo a small bolt on a bed frame, the Bit started to "round" off on the edge as the bolt was very tight, worried that I would damage the bit further I resorted to a normal Allen Key to complete the job.....not impressed.
I have also spent a few days assembling various self-assembly bits of furniture and have noticed a lot of "wear" marks on various Philips and Pozi drive bits.
I think the problem is down to the fact the bits were manufactured in Taiwan and the metal is softer, something I have experience before in my years in engineering.
To conclude my review......great bit of kit to have, slightly expensive, let down by eastern quality.
Not for Leatherman the scuffed or easily-rounded edges; this set of bits feel like they are fashioned from "unobtanium" and built to be indestructible. They might well be, too... In fact, there's only one teensy annoyance with this add-on for your Leatherman Wave - and that's storage. Fortunately, a simple solution is at hand... Just purchase a spare "Wave" belt pouch and you will find that the bit kit will fit snugly inside, leaving just enough space for some lint-free cloth or perhaps even the help-sheet that they are supplied with.
1. Awesome build quality
2. Perfect companion to a Wave - extends the basic functionality of the main tool with an approach that does not in any way compromise the design or rugged build quality of the main unit.
1. Should really come with their own dedicated belt pouch [as the Leatherman does] because without something like this there is no simple or convenient means of handy storage...
Overall, a perfect addition to an awesome multi-tool. You can't go wrong...
I have the old skool leather sheath. Which had adapted to the size of the knife inside after so many years or sun and rain. It took a little shoving to get these guys in the same sheath and did add some minor bulk, but now a few months later; the leather had relaxed and they slide in and out easy, and the extra bulk I’ve got used to. Easy to forget you even own them until the moment your the most useful bloke around 😉
Excellent kit to make my Rebar, Kick and Juice S2 even more useful (to fit these models I described it needs the Leatherman Bit Driver for Blast/Fuse/Kick )
I bought it and the extension accessory LEATHERMAN Bithalter extension - for Skeletool®, Skeletool® CX, Charge® AL, Charge® ALX, Charge® TTi, LTG931009 to fully replace the need to carry my screwdriver set with me
great quality as expected from Leatherman and well worth it to upgrade my old tool box kit, so I don't need to buy a newer more expensive model like Wave or Charge anymore.
I use this Maxpedition pouch to carry the whole set with me at all times Maxpedition Mini Pocket Organiser - Foliage Green - One Size
