Perfect EDC, Perfect multitool

This is an absolutely great knife/multitool! Leatherman does it best and the skeletool proves that. Its got all the tools you really need in a multitool and none of those bullsh!t tools you don’t really need that just add bulkiness. Screwdriver with two bits that are duel sided for 4 different bits total that lock in place very well, plier/wire cutters (the main reason for a multitool) and a knife thats a great working size and very sharp outa box and easy to sharpen. Plus a bottle opener cause who doesn’t need a bottle opener and a clip for a beltloop. My only grip is that I keep this tool in my back pocket and the clip seems sort of small and I don’t 100% trust it in my back pocket. Besides that if you’re on the fence about this tool just buy it you definitely wont regret it. I use this literally every day at work and just around. Absolutely great multitool, can’t express that enough.

Consistent Quality is Lacking

I have a standard skeletool with serrated edge, and have yearned for a plain blade for longevity. The first CX came with and uneven grind near the blade tip and the pocket clip that was way too tight. The second CX had a better blade, but the screwdriver bit holder would not clasp some of the supplied bits. And the pocket clip on this second one is rather loose with a 0.7mm gap.

One other downside compared to my Skeletool is that the CX has a white plastic washer for the blade.

Aside from these quality issues this multitool so far performs just as well as my original Skeletool, and I do like the extra straight cutting length. I just wish they had the timeless look of a regular all metal Skeletool with 420HC straight edge.

I'm now on my 4th... One lost to the TSA, one lost out in the bush while working, and one stolen...

As long as Leatherman continues to produce these, I'll keep buying them. This is by far my favorite model they produce. I've seen the non-CX versions and they're almost as good, they just don't hold an edge as long.

Knife, screwdriver, pliers and bottle-opener. I use each one daily. If this thing had a corkscrew, it'd be perfect, but hey, a wine bottle can be opened up with a knife easily enough...

The best part about this thing is how compact and easy to carry it is. The pocket clip lets you carry it like a normal pocket knife and the one handed opening makes it function like a normal pocket knife. What sets this apart is the other tools it offers while adding minimal bulk.

The perfect multi tool

This tool is just great. It's replacing my Kershaw Shield knife, which is fantastic, but single use. This is identical in size but clearly offers many more functions in the same space. I found I needed a screwdriver a lot, this has that. A great one, too. I never realized how often I'd needed pliers until I got this tool either. I use them daily almost. Everything on this tool just works fantastic. The blade is a very nice steel, though kinda hard to sharpen. It comes very sharp in the box and holds an edge very well. Before I had the CX I had just the plain skeletool to try it out and I just can't recommend it over the CX. The blade in the regular skeletool sucks. The steel is almost low end quality- does not hold an edge for anything and I personally hate combo serrated/straight blades. For the extra money you're getting a MUCH higher end blade, a sharper looking black finish and the carbon fiber bit is a cool touch. Don't look any further if you are looking for a compact multi tool this is the one. If I had one gripe it's that it hurts a bit when really yanking down on the pliers but oh well. They're made for light duty tasks anyways.

Was looking for something more versatile than just the knife I’ve always carried, but normal multi tools are always super clunky and large. This barely takes up any more room in my pocket than my Benchmade folder. Blade comes out of the box wicked sharp and so far held that edge well. Really just having that blade, coupled with the decent pliers and screw drivers is just what I was looking for. I don’t need 50 tools in my pocket, just this few well built ones.

This is the best every day carry knife I've ever used. In the past, I've carried a simple knife, maybe slightly larger than this. This is so much more useful.

It has both Philips and flat head screwdriver bits. The extra bits are hidden in the frame, accessible when it's closed up - I didn't notice them at first. It also has needlenose plyers, cable cutters, and a bottle opener. And of course, a very sharp knife that is accessible without having to open up into plier mode. I've used all of them since carrying this.

The fit and finish is excellent and has held up well over the past few months of every day carry. I really like the black clip because it blends in nicely with dress pants or a suit so I can still carry it even when I'm dressed up.

It's lightweight and super useful. If you have only carried a simple knife before, this is a huge upgrade and you will not be disappointed. If you've carried a larger leatherman and use all the extra tools, this will not be for you. But for many, this is perfect.

Really lightweight, I bought this version for the non-serrated blade. There are a few downsides, first off it’s a factory sharpened blade, so to most people they will think it’s super sharp, but it needs honed, you can feel and see the grooves on the edge if you look close. Second, I bought this mainly for the carabiner clip, but’s it’s not very good quality. Third, because of the cutouts in the blade, it can get snagged and deploy without ever knowing until you sit down and stab yourself. But I love this tool and it’s my EDC, keep in mind it’s only for light duty.

This tool strikes a beautiful balance between versatility and durability, while still being uncomplicated and compact enough to ride comfortably in a pocket.
The knife is easily accessible with one hand. Locking mechanism for the driver bits is a nice touch.
It’s definitely worth paying the extra money to get the straight edged version in my opinion.

Great tool, look forward to putting it to the test in the next up coming weeks in the woods. Looks to be made with quality materials. Took a little oil and elbow grease to loosening the pliers up a little. They were so tight I could hardly open the tool upon arrival, still needs more work. Wish there was a locking mechanism for the spare bit, I can see it falling out of the handle at some point. A personal grip, there should have been Phillips and slotted bits combined instead of #1 and #2 on the same bit but like I said that’s a personal wish item. Knife is sharp holds its edge well. Just a few strokes in the Wheatstone and she’s back to new.

I like it a lot. As a minimalist multitool, I think they could have shaved off some more weight without sacrificing strength.
The blade is amazing. The pliers are very solid. The bit kit makes this useable.
I would love to see attachments available as bits other than the standard phillips, allen, etc.
But anyways this thing is nice. Quality. I gave it 4 stars because I think they could have shaved off weight, or given it like 2 more tools for the same weight. A can opener would make this the perfect backpacking tool (for me).
I am using it as my mountain bike tool kit with the bit kit- so for that it is superb. A sturdy tool that is fairly light- as such it was very expensive. But it's a Leatherman, and the blade is about the nicest one I have- and that is including all my chef's knives.
I got a Charge for backpacking, and I can use the bit kit for both- which is a plus.
