Our process makes a difference. As our family learned on our coffee estate in Cuba nearly 150 years ago, care is the most important step in cultivating quality coffee. That simple idea is what makes Don Francisco's Coffee and Cafe La Llave different to this day. We are involved at each step of the process-- from sourcing high quality coffees to personally cupping samples each morning to our commitment to empowering sustainability. It is this careful attention to detail that allows us to ensure you are getting the best quality coffee in your cup.

I can't say this replaces cafecitos in Cuban restaurants in Miami, but it comes pretty close.
If you're looking for an Italian style espresso or single origin blah blah blah , this is not it. If you're looking for a Starbucks espresso skip this page.
This is what cuban coffee tastes like, without an expensive espresso machine or old school stove top cafetera .
It's dark, but I love dark coffee. The thing is it's not bitter. Pretty darn smooth. I will load another photo of how it looks like when it's punctured. Get it if you want an alternative from the Nespresso pods.
I would otherwise give this product a five star rating. Unfortunately this batch is resulting in abnormal results.
Of the two sleeves I have opened, I have attempted to make 10 cups. Only 2 actually worked in as much as to produce a few drips of expresso. All the others did not produce ANY expresso.
Upon inspection of each of the pods that failed to produce any expresso, each had the same problem. The face from which the expresso is extracted had absolutely no holes. Normally, the foil is pressed against the extraction screen, and once the pressure builds enough, it pushes hard enough to force the face to open in multiple spots and the expresso flows out the spot and into your cup as a nectar even the gods would appreciate.
I descale the machines every six months and I have tried pulling cups with this shipment, on each of my 2 machines at home (can’t go into the office what with our stay-at-home order in San Francisco)...and the results are not machine-specific.
If I pull a cup with Nespresso pods, no problems.
If I pull a cup with the Llave pods from my LAST shipment, NO PROBLEMS.
So with that I have to conclude that they tweaked either the manufacturing process, the pod materials, or both. Unfortunately they don’t work anymore and I will be stopping my shipments until I have some evidence that this has been addressed.
As I read thru other reviews looking for anyone with these issues, I did notice a trend of reviews highlighting that the machine had to be started numerous times to get a normal 110ml lungo or 40ml expresso pull. Not enough holes = lower produced volume?
Anyhow, I would not recommend that anyone take the risk of ordering these, until this issue is fixed, unless you have Prime and are willing to send your order back if you experience the same issues.
That said, the Cafe' La Llave Espresso capsules are my new favorite. Both Pressogno and Llave use a clever foil seal on the top AND bottom guaranteeing near 100% brewing success, though the Cafe' La Llave uses a more robust plastic pod. Most plastic and even Nespresso aluminum capsules occasionally fail if the base doesn't pierce properly, making the coffee kinda "drool" out. Both the Cafe' La Llave Espresso and Pressogno coffee capsules keep the coffee fresh by sealing them with nitrogen gas.
The La Llave Espresso is rich and tasty, producing a nice crema topping after brewing. The price per unit matches Pressogno, half that of Nespresso, with a bit less messy packaging.
I'm drinking the Cafe' La Llave Espresso as I write this and, while it doesn't quite match the original Nespresso brand, the price and brewing reliability earns it five stars.
