5.0 out of 5 starsAwesome pan, just check the size before ordering...

I accidentally ordered the 3.5 inch. It's amazing, solid, heavy and well made, but can probably only fry a piece of garlic in it at a time(My fault for not checking). I may keep it next to my bed and use it as a weapon if necessary, or hang it on the wall as an ornament.
Was excited to receive my first Lodge cast iron after reading the raving reviews. Unfortunately, the craftsmanship is not great. The handle came with a big deep scratch on it. This wasn't from delivery as I initially thought. The scratch is covered by some kind of oil so whoever made the pan damaged it and tried to cover it up. I am worried heating it up will melt the area and be prone to rust.
When it first arrived I was a bit concerned with the course sandpaper texture of the pan but washed and gave it a quick season in the oven and it worked great. However, I am impatient and couldn't wait for the seasoning to build up so I sanded the inside of the pan, seasoned it several times in the oven before use and now I would say it ranks up their with the best non stick pans on the market.
I looked at this same pan from Kitchen Warehouse and it was going to cost almost $80 AUD as apposed to under $25 from here, I purchased the lid with it too. Shipping was really fast considering it was coming from the US it was here in about a week. This was my first time using a cast iron pan, but I love it, use it at home and to take camping. Well worth it.
Bought this as we have another cast iron fry pan which we love. Lodge has a good name and decided to try one. It has been great, and always light rinse/clean and then season it after we use it, and is working well. This is a little smaller than our regular one, and should have got the same size as the last one. The handle gets hot , so have to keep in mind when handling. Our other one has a wooden handle which is great as don't need to worry about heat. Great Product.
Absolutely fantastic pan. Having never used cast iron to cook before, I was hestitant after reading about all the "extra" maintenance requirements for cast iron. But I took the chance anyway and purchased one off of Amazon and have never looked backed. Steaks have never tasted better than they being cooked on this pan. It being cast iron, it can also be used in the oven or on a charcoal BBQ. So it is super versatile and it cooks so evenly. The preseasoning on all Lodgeware is amazing and so easy to maintain.
I had never tried Cast Iron pans before, so tried this on my induction cooktop and WOW it works great! It has excellent non-stick properties, it cooks a steak to perfection, and is a joy to use. On the downside, you need to be aware that cast iron pans are very heavy - like really heavy. So take that into consideration. Also, while they clean up pretty well, they do require a bit of looking after to keep in top shape. IE don't leave them wet/submerged in your sink, avoid harsh soaps (you usually don't need any soap at all), keep an extremely thin layer of oil wiped onto the pan surface to aid in seasoning and rust prevention. I baby my pan a fair bit so after use I usually: Wait till pan is in the 100 degree celsius mark then pour hot water into it and scrub with a brush, rinse with hot water and keep scrubbing as you rinse. For scrubbing I use a plastic scrubbing brush, usually that is enough. If there is lots of oil on the surface, I might add a small amount of dish soap and very gently wipe that around with a sponge and then rinse it off as fast as I can with hot water - but I rarely use any soap. For stubborn burnt on stains I use salt grains as an abrasive and scrub with a cloth, and then rinse really well afterwards. Once rinsed clean, I wipe dry with a paper towel, then put it back on the stove to get it warm again to ensure all water is evaporated, then I get a piece of paper towel and dab some cooking oil on it and wipe onto pan - I then use a dry bit of the paper towel to wipe off excess oil - it needs to be just the slightest smear of oil - not much. And that's it. So it's a bit more work to look after, but MAN the cooking results are excellent.
This is my first cast iron skillet and I'm very happy with the quality (made in USA), still learning to how to take proper care of it in terms of seasoning etc. This thing is also really heavy so care is needed if you're using it best to use both hands.
Holy Crap .. this thing is awesome. always wondered about PUBG mechanics.. but im telling you. this could easily deflect multiple bullets and most definitely could kill someone. Be sure to google cast iron prep and maintenance and you will have a pan useful for both murder, self defence and cooking amazing steaks and salmon.
Was hesitant using cast iron on a glass top stove but item has performed flawlessly and allows us to put the crisp back into the food rather than stewing it with non-stick pans. After seasoning it a few additional times (it comes pre-seasoned) it's performing as well as any non stick pan. Would recommend especially when it goes on sale!!
A classic well made cast iron pan. I was pleasantly surprised on how smooth and well made this cast iron pan is. Even heating and cooks well on both the Traeger and the gas top. Came preseasoned for convenience so I could start cooking straight away. If you want a cast iron pan that is well made and a workhorse this is the one! I'll definitely be buying more!
