The left side of the phone holder will not open or close the right side will not stay where it supposed to be and pops open often, making my phone fall out of the holder. Not being able to move the left side prohibits me from being able to charge my phone as the bottom part of the phone holder blocks the charging port. It started doing this two weeks after I purchased it, but I thought it was a problem that could be fixed or would resolve itself… But it has not. I would find another phone holder… Will be looking elsewhere for a different product.
This is just a poorly designed device. I’ve owned several dash mount iPhone holders and didn’t really pay much attention to the design until this one. The problem is the support arm connects very low on the holder, well below any phones center of gravity, and as a result the phone shutters from side to side if you have any sort of vibration. It wobbles back and forth at a high rate making the screen tough to see and it can’t be good for the phones internal sensors. It’s sort of like the vibration you get from a tire that’s a touch out of balance, that sort of fast rhythm jostles your phone back and forth relentlessly at normal highway speeds.
Had this phone mount for less than a month and the wings on the side that hold the phone, wouldn’t stay closed anymore. I didn’t feel like replacing it so I just tilted the phone more up so it wouldn’t fall out. That worked for a little bit, but one day I put my phone it it and it fell off. Turns out the suction part was melting off from the heat in my car, so it wouldn’t stay suctioned anymore. Now the thing is completely useless and my phone has been dropped over 10 times by it. This thing is cheap. Do not buy.
I'm going to try and make this short, all in all its pretty decent for the price I guess. Being only $10 you get what you get. But as you can see in the pictures thats how far it can extend the normal way and then you can flip it over to become a little longer. But I'm not sure if it was the temperature inside my car (all black Nissan Murano) but the suction wouldn't stay very long. I put the mounting plate (for curved surfaces it says) and it stuck for about a week and then the left side came off my dash and I couldn't stick it back down. So I just decided to take it off (apparently I wasnt careful enough so beware) and noticed it took off a portion of my dash (probably only about a nanometer thick but still). So I said whatever and just stuck the sticky suction cup to the dash, and once again (might be the heat) the mount fell down. Also it depends on your phone because if your phone is to heavy and the arm is extended all the way and since most US roads are bumpy, then over time the mount will fall down and you'll have to re-stick it. And one more thing the holder at the bottom isn't the longest so if you have something like a PopSocket on the back of your phone then the holder at the bottom might barely be touching the mount. I have an iPhone Xs with a Mous case for reference. I would say "Edit" but I forgot to post the review when I the product. It's been almost a year now and the suction cup just won't stick in my car. If you read this whole thing then props to you
This holder isn't good for big phone set on horizontal because the side support is too close to the one side. It can grip only about 1/3 of the length of the phone so about 2/3 was not supported so the phone sags. The 2 grip bars are just too short so it can't hold the phone well if you have the case. It only works ok, not well, in the vertical position.
*** updated *** The supported arms wouldn't open anymore. The gear/spring inside probably broke or jammed upt. The plastic suction cup melted and broke away from the body so no longer able to hold. Threw away in the trash!!! :)
I mounted this using the included flat plate and following the instructions, and I've repeatedly had to remount the suction cup on the plate. It rarely stays attached for more than half an hour. Perhaps the adhesive is just heat-sensitive, but at any rate that's a deal breaker where I live.
Then, within my third day of using it (I'd probably used it about ten times), the right arm stopped moving in sync with the left, so my phone's charging port won't line up with the opening in the bottom of the mount.
This thing is the most frustrating piece of work I have ever purchased on amazon. It would NOT stay on my dash.... I would be driving down the road and my phone AND THE HOLDER would go flying across the car with any bump or movement (and I secured the thing on my dash for a ridiculous amount of time) It now just sits on my dash because I made it stick but it won’t hold my phone up anymore Overall terrible product
Very disappointed. I have the new Samsung Note 10+ and the grasp itself works great despite my cover but the phone but be too heavy because the suction came off 10 mins into my drive. I tried it on the plastic base it comes with, I tried it straight onto the dash and I tried it on the windshield but it would not last more than 10 minutes. Shouldn't be advertised for large phone if the suction can't handle them.
I’ve bought four of these in the past and as great as those were, this one doesn’t seem to hold my phone that well. I have an iPhone XR In a speck case and while it’s slightly thick the holder doesn’t seem to click and hold its releases randomly to the next notch and then my phone is pretty much loose and can fall on acceleration. I don’t know if I got a faulty one but I wish the arms would click and hold the phone maybe if there was a locking mechanism of some sort. Sometimes it doesn’t even hold when it’s empty.
This is my first time using the suction plate and it’s okay nothing special I think it mounts better to my dashboard.
