The second design fault is that they are like walking on ice on some surfaces - anything metal, you could be up in the air.
These two design faults are an inconvenience, but the comfort and fit is amazing - they are small fitting, i am 8.5, but a 9 fits perfectly.
They are so comfortable you could walk miles.
they look great too
I cant believe how Merrell - i'm a big fan can get the basics so wrong???
Now the good: The soles strike a perfect balance between flexibility and protection, and grip like crazy. The boots lace up easy, breathe great, and feel as good at the end of the day as they do at the beginning. They're the epitome of the "light boot". After wearing these, I couldn't even imagine lacing myself into some mid-rise leather prison for a warm summer hike.
They are so comfortable and support my feet really nicely.
I also find that my feet dont sweat too much and the insoles absorb any bad odours.
Plenty of life left in them and no obvious tears or worn out parts.
I have worn them in all temperatures even Aussie Outback and all terains. I have had them soaked in salt water, and they just seem to keep on going.
The soles are a little hard which gives the long life but the downside is that this can mean they are a little slippery on some wet surfaces.
I so love these and cannot recommend them enough.
these soles are no good on wet surfaces, especially metal, like manhole covers.
It needs just one step when in a hurry and that's it.
Otherwise I noticed that, when pulling the laces tight, the toe box becomes a bit too tight as well, but I got around this issue by tying a knot half way up, this way I can keep the lower part in the desired shape and adjust the top as I wish...
1 star deducted for the slippery outer sole..
EDIT: I got a size 9UK in these and they fit perfectly. So I personally would recommend getting a size 9uk if thats what you normally wear.
I have purchased Merrell boots in the past but only bought half a size (8.5) up as I had heard their sizings are a little tight. These were wearable but still too tight for long walks.
So on this occasion I went for a full size up (9) and they are perfect!
