To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I purchased about a dozen of these from 2016 to 2018. Today in 2020, every other XLR-to-1/4 I bought in that era is still working, while every single Monoprice cable I've ever purchased has failed, with no exceptions. These just don't last, and I wasted so much money and time buying these because I didn't know better and liked the feel of these.
I'm almost tempted to do a demo of all my failed cables just in hopes that someone believes me and doesn't waste their time. I know there are overwhelmingly positive reviews but if you're reading this, please take my word for it.
Great cable for the money! The balanced cable used for this is larger in diameter than normal balanced mic cable. The jacket says 16ga which is pretty large gauge for balanced cable. The connectors have "MONOPRICE" marked on them and seem pretty good although I would prefer Switchcraft or Neutrik. Overall I am happy with it and it saved me the time and effort of making my own.
I'm glad I read the last review. I would have never known that the cables were not wired right. Bought a multimeter and checked the cables and sure enough. Tip is wired to pin 3 instead of pin 2. No problem for me though as I am novice level tinkerer and will get them switched. I rated a 3 only because I have to get into the soldering and fix myself. This is my second set of cables and the 1st set is working just fine and I should go back and rate them a 5. These cables are well built ( except for wiring detail} and I expect to be using these a long time.
