We used it for the first time on a long 8-hour trip to keep our twin 19-month-olds. I made a DVD of the favorite shows from Youtube. Using the remote control from the front seat turned out to be a problem. We could not tell which video was cued up to play. Hitting the next, forward or reverse on the remote didn't seem to do anything. We one selects an item the icon is not highlighted, lit up or outlined. There are also "previous page" and "next page icons", that don't perceptively change when selected. We spent a lot of times pushing buttons not know what would happen. It was frustrating for us and the boys. We watched some videos over and over and never got to some others. Today I'm looking at the screens in the house, from two feet away and I can see what is selected, but it is even hard at this distance. I view this as a major design flaw in the system. I'm considering returning it and trying another brand.
The kids love it, and the fact that my older boy (7) can change the disks and operate the system himself is a huge plus. It was an easy decision to get the model that included headphones, and they are working great. Screen size is fantastic - we had a built-in ceiling mounted screen in our old car, but it was much smaller; these are great! The main monitor has slightly better picture quality than the second display - detail is not as clear, but my included photo is the second display - still works great. The mounting straps are nothing special, but they work. Very happy with the system.
All is great except the straps that it comes with. I highly suggest the mounting brackets they sell separately. Aside from that, it seems to be well made and the picture is great. My van had a single screen DVD player and when it quit working, I decided to go with a dual screen instead of fixing the one it has because my rear facing little one can’t see the screen. I love that they each have a screen now. Plus the headphone mean I don’t have to listen to Barney on repeat. Lol the cords are nice and long which is something I was worried about. They provide plenty of length to go to the power supply. My only complaint is that the straps are not enough to hold the screens onto the headrest. I’ll be buying the mounting brackets ASAP. Also, I bought the 4 year warranty through Amazon as well and if you’re buying this for kids, I’d recommend that as well. Kids break everything. Lol
Ever since I sold my vehicle that had a built in DVD headrest system my Grandchildren have been upset
(no Scooby Doo, Frozen, Blaze, etc. when I drive them around) After a lot of research I chose the NAVISKAUTO 10.1" Dual Screen Portable DVD Player system and could not be happier with my decision! The unit came very well packaged and was a breeze to install. For the price this is a great value, the quality of all units and accessories is excellent, the picture quality is fantastic and most of all THE GRAND-KIDS LOVE IT!!!.
I highly recommend this DVD system to anyone especially those with young children/grandchildren - No more "are we there yet? Are we there yet?........" And BTW - Amazing customer service also!!!!
The DVD system is pretty good, but the headsets are horrible!! The ear cushions/covers constantly come off and they are horrible no put back on. My kids don't pull on the covers; the covers come off when my boys take the headphones off their heads.
Update: Seller offered to send me new headsets to replace defective headsets. Hopefully the new ones will last longer.
Update #2: So the new headsets have fallen apart twice since we've received them. While I like that these new sets have the option of being cordless, they are still a pain to put the ear covers back on. It took 20 minutes for me to put 2 covers back on.
The videos play beautifully and clearly. The mounting system is not amazing but it works, albeit with wires hanging around. I cant speak for the remote control as we lost it a few days after we got it. Overall it’s still a lot cheaper than getting a professionally installed dvd system for a car so it was worth it for us. Definitely serving its purpose
The battery life is definitely NOT 5 hours. It lasts us about 3 hours. The car charger cord is very low quality. It’s also somewhat outmoded technology. I wouldn’t not have purchased if I had known I couldn’t charge it with a USB port. I would upgrade my rating if I can find a way to purchase a usb charging cord. Wish I didn’t have to go through the trouble but this is still a solid value for the price.
I bought this thinking each monitor was a DVD player. That is it the case. There is only ONE player. The second monitor is not able to play anything on its own, so both kids have to watch the same DVD on car trips. Very disappointed.
