**update** I’ve been using this for over a week since I got it, and it is the best thing that has ever happened to my morning routine and hair. The waves stay throughout the day, I couldn’t be happier!
Hard to use. Waste of money don't bother and you can use regular headbands for a couple bucks. This thing is huge and the end ties leave creases.
I read a lot of reviews to find ways around some of the obstacles, like placing the top over my hair to avoid a mark on my go read. And I separated the crown hair and tied it in from over the top, to avoid kinks in my hair.
It was very comfortable, I slept like a baby.. and the curls are the best I’ve been able to get, ever. I still need to practice a bit because some of my hairs were getting stuck, but that was user error.
All in all I highly recommend them!
Pictures show I did looser curls and one side, tighter curls on the other. I didn’t know it would make such a difference, but it did. The possibilities are out there :)
How to use: Following the directions for different types of curls. I have thick, course, wavy hair so curling when your hair is damp or dry is essential. I also put curling cream and sea salt spray in my hair ( when wet) before allowing my hair to dry and using the Octocurl. I only wash my hair once or twice a week. I just rewrap/reuse the Octocurl each additional night I do not wash my hair for next day curls.
I found the Octocurl extremely easy to use. It is helpful to have solid hand/eye coordination. But I think anyone could get comfortable with using it. Initially, planning out my approach made it a breeze: Separate head/hair into 8 sections, methodically wrap each section, and voila! Sleeping is so comfortable, no problems there at all. I've both wrapped and not wrapped the curls with satin fabric, and either way there's little disturbance to the curls when I wake up. This surprised me because I do flip-flop around a fair amount at night. When I have the Octocurl in my hair at bedtime, my significant other calls it my "Cleopatra look." :) I've had Octocurl for four months now, so plenty of time to try it out and get a good sense of whether it's a sustainable tool. It really is!
I highly recommend Octocurl to anyone who's looking for low-maintenance, gorgeous curls <3 Many thanks to the brilliant lady who designed it and made it available on the market!
You can get either loose or tight curls depending on how you roll it and the styling products you use.
It is comfortable to sleep in.
Curls without damaging your hair.
Not difficult to use.
Good tips and video tutorials.
The curls will always be at the ends of your hair; you can't really get them close to the root. To make this perfect, I'd like the option to curl a little closer to the top.
