I had some issues with the first reel i received, where my line got caught up under the reel. Seemed like a faulty reel. I was immediately sent a new reel, which I really enjoy. It's smooth, strudy, and feels pretty quality for the value, and fits great (weight distribution) with my Ultra-light Okuma Celilo rod. Would definitely recommend - especially for trout.
The reel I received was faulty. Super disappointed as I didn’t get to use it yet and it’s past its return date. As seen in the video, the reel at times (must be at a particular spot) can and will reel backwards. The spool does not always lock. This will be very problematic when setting the hook. I have not been able to reach customer service at this point. Needless to say I’m frustrated as I have a reel that I don’t trust at quite a substantial price point. I hope this helps, as there is a chance you may get a lemon. Any customer service help would be greatly appreciated.
I’ve been using the 2000 version paired with a light ugly stik for fishing my local river. Been catching a lot of perch, largemouth (2-3lbs), and even some stripers! Paired it with some 6lb braid. No issues yet. I’m impressed with the quality of this reel at the price point. I’m beating this thing up daily and it still works fine. I even caught a 10+ lb carp on this thing by accident, but had to baby it in.
I’d recommend this for sure, but can’t speak to long-term usage. It does seem a little flimsy sometimes.
I own this in two sizes the 10 and 20. I use these reels for trout fishing. The Ceymar is a lightweight, dependable reel. Never had a any problem with them. The gears are smooth when reeling in. I would highly recommend this reel for anyone on a budget. You can pair the 10 or 20 with and ultralight to light rod respectively.
Most of my tackle budget these days goes for Okuma products. In my experience, comparable Shimano or Daiwa rods and reels go for 30% to 60% more. Okuma's customer service is unbeatable. I sent them a spinning reel that was grinding due to me having dropped it in the sand. I had it back in about 10 days, good as new, no charge! When I called to order a part, same thing, friendly service and no charge! I can't say anything bad about these guys, they take care of their customers!
Bought 3 of these for my kids. They work great, the drag is easy to set, they are extremely smooth in operation and there is no back movement in the reel when trying to set hooks. Couldn't ask for anything more for the price.
Smooth, quality reel. Purchased mainly for brown trout stream fishing, ceymar c-20, and was so impressed with smoothness and drag I took it largemouth fishing using a drop shot rig aka light line finesse. Landed countless large pickerel and bass up to 4 pounds and the reel handled with zero issues. I will definitely be purchasing More reels from Okuma. Great job guys. Ty
