Great musky reel

I purchased this for the sole purpose of fishing musky. I have not been disappointed! This reel has ample power and makes a breeze out of cranking double tens all day, either slow retrieve or burning them. It also has the speed to fish jerkbaits/plastics adequately as well as top waters lures. I have owned both the Calcutta 400D and Lexa 400, and although similar to the Lexa, It has a more comfortable feel to it and seems to have a bit more power. When compared to the Calcutta 400D though, its not even close, the Komodo is by far a more adequate reel for musky.

I buy 2 Komodo 364’s totally awesome reels, bought them on Amazon.ca. So I am planning a trip and know having more line capacity and 10# more drag with the Komodo 471p would be an absolute benefit so I ordered them thru Amazon.ca with no hesitation. Get to where I am going, spend $140us putting braided line on them. What an absolute disappointment to find out both 471p have two totally different drag problems. One has one mid range drag and zero adjustment, and the other has only full drag with zero adjustment and the line just snaps losing not only my fish but my gear. Sorry to say I lost faith and returned my 471p for refund and sold my 364’s. Really saddens me, as honestly my 364’s were great reels.

Product was not new as advertised, signs of use un the paddle handles and slight scuffing or wear on the body plastic. Also a tiny crack on body clutch side of plastic housing, also noticed play on crank handle side barring/bushing. Product was not packed in original manufacturing box properly, evidence of being opened and removed from original box, missing items in box include OEM lubrication kit that comes with every Okuma product shipped from factory, I believe this reel was either a refurbished, previously owned and lightly used or a display model. none the less, I would suggest looking elsewhere for such an expensive reel, no deals here!

Very smooth, well balanced reel with a nice drag set up. Use it for jigging salmon lures in the Salish Sea. I have not tried it for casting so cannot comment on that aspect of the reel.
