Now for the good stuff. If you are an adult, and want the tiniest, *useful* LED light, this is it. On low (5 lumens), it is perfect for dim/dark use in a house, or within 10 feet outside. You will get somewhere around 7 hours of use. This version has a 'captured' tailcap - it cannot be unscrewed, so you cannot lose it. You also don't need to worry about the light turning itself on in your pocket or luggage, since it's very unlikely that the tailcap will *tighten* itself.
On high, it will light up objects 50-75ish feet away. Inside, 130 lumens is *bright*. You don't need that much unless you just came in from sun gazing.
I bought this light as a whim. I've always wanted a tiny, useful light. The typical 'keychain' lights have never worked reliably for me, and have useless light beams and brightness. I'm genuinely surprised how much I'm using it for real work.
If you need brighter small light, for a longer time, or more safe, I strongly suggest you look at the Ultratac K18 or Olight S1 Mini Baton. It has 5 (much more) useful brightness levels (including 'moonlight, and a crazy-bright turbo), and comes with one or two protected, USB-charge-port RCR123 batteries.
The I1R 2 has an improved grip for turning light on/off, even the twist is smoother. I am sad the 5 lumens setting lost 1 hour on the spec sheet but I never ran down the battery in several months so I am not too concerned. The I1R 2 EOS has a much whiter/blue light on the brighter setting of 150 lumens compared to the I1R EOS with 130 Lumens. I can tell the I1R 2, 150 lumens, is better for lighting up a room to see stuff than the previous I1R. Love the fact that it doesn't come apart now, and size change is so minimal on the new version 2 that I am still thrilled with the small size.
I have owned my I1R for 6 months and have only charged it once or twice at most, once was within the last month. The battery hasn't drained enough for the light not to work, I primarily use this light for a short time and have been very please with it. I wanted a second keychain flashlight for my other keychain that has my wife's vehicle key on it. I did a lot of searching and ordered a I1R 2 and a Mecarmy X4S (wishing I also could order a FENIX UC02 to try out but it hasn't been in stock for a while).
The MecArmy X4S felt slightly bigger in my pocket than the I1R 2 even tho it isn't much bigger, I think due to the body's grip groves go in two directions, casing more friction.
I1R 2 is sleek, has a nice low lumens output great for sneaking around kids bedroom to find something or just a quick light to find something in the dark anywhere.
If you want the smallest keychain flashlight that is made by a good brand that makes quality reliable flashlights, look no further - buy now!
There are two light levels. I use the low level because it last longer on a charge and it is just fine. The high level runs the battery down more quickly but it is so intensely bright that I rarely find it necessary.
- Very bright
- USB rechargeable
- Quality brand
- It gets a little warm on high after a couple minutes (seems all bright flashlights do, though)
- I'm thinking
Bottom line, if you want a great keychain size flashlight, get the i1R 2 EOS.
Oh, the fact that you don't need to remove the head when charging really synched the deal.
