Oribe Rough Luxury Soft Molding Paste is an ultra-pliable moldable paste wax that smoothly slips through hair and takes hold for definition, texture and shine. Formulated without parabens or sodium chloride. Color and keratin treatment safe. UV protection for hair. Definition and flexible control. Medium hold with memory. Soft shine. Oribe signature complex (watermelon, lychee and edelweiss flower extracts) defends hair from oxidative stress, photoaging and the deterioration of natural keratin, all while protecting from the drying, damaging and color-depleting effects of the elements. Water-soluble polymer complex creates a flexible hold with soft shine. Hydrolyzed keratin strengthens damaged hair, protects the hair shaft and enhances body and shine. Wheat amino acids moisturize hair, improving gloss, softness and suppleness. Sunflower seed extract delivers incredible shine while providing color protection. Pro-vitamin B5 thickens, conditions and builds in volume. Lends a soft touch to short cuts and long layers alike. Water soluble.

I’m sorry but will not be purchasing this again from this site -just seen it elsewhere at half the price!!
The product feels light on the hair and washes out easily. On top of that, it smells great and has not damaged my hair (although I have been switching shampoos and other hair care products around so this does not mean it won't damage your hair). Oribe uses some great ingredients in their product but I would highly recommend anyone who purchases hair products to look through all the ingredients themselves first.
Why did it lose a star? Secondary packaging was slightly damaged (which isn't that important) but I would've expected something better for primary packaging. It's just basic plastic, which is fine if Oribe lowers the cost by $5 - $10. I was unhappy with how they didn't have any film covering the molding paste as well, on top of the fact that mine wasn't screwed tight (it unscrewed as if it had been opened before). I continued to use it, though, because I didn't notice any changes in the horizontal texture of the product.
To Oribe: Improve the packaging a little bit and put some sort of film over the paste to ensure customers that the product has not been touched. Otherwise, great work!
Bin sehr enttäuscht! Jeder günstige Haarwachs ist mindestens genau so gut.
Der Geruch ist gut, sonst keine Kaufempfehlung!
I was really disappointed with this paste. Nothing about it felt 'soft' or paste-like. No matter how little I put on, it left my hair sticky, glossy and crunchy, basically the same effect as a thick, goopy gel, despite the fact this is a cream-based product. It might be better on shorter hair, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it for those with hair on the longer side of a short haircut. I felt the semi-gloss look left my hair looking greasy and limp and along with the stickiness, I didn't enjoy it. The tub is also really annoying, often refusing to close properly as though the threads have trouble catching.
The hold was ok, pretty much as described at a medium hold with a natural flexibility. The flexibility is somewhat marred by the sticky, greasy look this product gave my hair though.
For me, the only positives about this paste would be the lack of certain chemicals that some people prefer to not have in their hair, the UV protection and the smell. The scent isn't amazing, but it's pretty non-offensive, a light, almost spicy unisex scent that most people shouldn't be bothered by.
Note: I used this on dry hair, rather than wet.
I wish I could say the same about this molding paste, but that's simply not the case. Firstly, the hold isn't there. When I used this product several times, 100% of those times I noticed my hair starting to fall and lose its shape around mid-late afternoon (product was applied in the morning). Secondly, it feels harder to remove than the hair molding paste that I was originally using. My hair felt more sticky when I tried to shampoo and rinse out the paste from my hair at the end of the day.
If I had some good things to say about this product, it's that the texture is nice when applying - not too liquidy, nor too stiff. It spreads in my hands well and allows for easy application of the product into my hair. Secondly, the smell is nice. It's not too strong, yet it has a scent that I assume individuals of the opposite gender will dig. Thirdly, the container is well-built. It's not slippery (thanks to the angled design of the perimeter of the container), and the lid closes quite tightly. Despite these good things about this product, I would recommend against it, especially when considering the higher-than-average price point of 46 CAD.
Although you only use a small amount at a time, it is still very expensive. My fiancé does prefer it over the drug store brand he used previously but because of the expensive price of this high end item it won’t be one we regularly buy but perhaps as a Christmas present or other special occasion! If you have the money to spend, it is worth it!

Excellent. Packaged well and branded well.
Good. This product did a good job giving some hold to my hair, but still giving it texture. It did a good job of not getting greasy over time which a lot of products fall victim to. I used this for a few days and noticed that the hold does weaken throughout the day – maybe I’m not putting on enough product – but I don’t like to overwhelm my hair with product either. I was hoping this would be a good middle ground of non-grease and good hold for the day, but I don’t think this is really worth it for the price point that it’s at considering it can’t provide the hold I’m looking for. If you do want something that just adds texture to your hair – maybe for just a simple comb-over – this would work better for you.
My favourite part was the lack of grease – they did a good job with that. But the hold left me wanting more, and at this price – I expected more.

You can also apply it to your hair directly as they are dry, and out of shape, but it will take a little bit more of the product, more time to work it in, and it will seem a little thicker to the touch, but in a morning rush, this still does the job very well.
What I like most about this product is the look, it really seems like your hair is naturally molded the way you leave them, you definitely can't see the product in your hair, apart from the shine, but that just looks healthy, there are absolutely no white flakes left in your hair when this dries too, so that's a big plus and that's part of what makes it worth the price, because all the regular, big brand molding pastes, like Dove, Axe, and others lower-costing pastes, do leave those white flakes in your hair after 24hrs if you don't wash them, also this product just smells amazing, I'd put my nose up to it just to enjoy the smell sometimes. There's also the fact that you can easily wash away what's left of the product on your fingertips when you're done molding it in, just rinse and dry your hands with a dry towel, you'll feel absolutely no residue left on your fingers.
The only thing I would like to be a little better is the feel of your hair after you apply this product because it does seem like there is something on your hair, I have very fine hair, so it's easy to feel it, naturally, my hair feels like cat's hair almost, but with the product they become a little thicker, and you can feel there's product on them. so it's a little bit annoying because this product makes them so nice, that when someone is attracted to them and comes to touch my hair, they can feel the product, and then they pull away from it, I'd like it better if they couldn't feel it and would keep playing in my hair, and even if it's not greasy by any means, it does make people shy away from playing with them, but still, how many people actually do that? Very few, so it's no big deal really.
Overall, I've had this paste for already two months, and I use it almost daily, and I still have about a year left of use out of it, easy. So price-wise, even if you do pay quite a bit more for this product, it's definitely worth it, plus for the amazing results of this product, you definitely are not going wrong with this product, it's a sure-shot for molding pastes.
I got this and the shampoos for my guy, for his short, thinning, very fine hair. Now at 31, his hair is starting to recede a bit and is definitely thinning out on the top. He wont use conditioner, and doesn't like a lot of "fuss" so this is an excellent product for him as it's easy for him to quickly style his hair, and this genuinely makes his hair look better than it has in years.
He likes that just a little bit rubbed into his fingers over dry hair can go to smooth any of his potential curly flyaways (he has naturally wavy hair, though he keeps it cut short) without flattening his hair down against his head. A little bit more of it smoothed over wet hair and run through with a comb gives him a really smooth, polished look, but also doesn't weight it down and flatten it, or completely seperate all his hair so it looks like he accidently combed oil through his hair.
No matter how he styles this, we *both* like that it doesnt leave his hair crusty, or greasy, or otherwise with some kind of nasty residue that can either be seen or felt. However, this "magic" paste also does an excellent job styling and holding his hair, and his hair honestly looks as good now at 10pm at night from when he got out of the shower at 6 in the morning. He has never had that result from any of his standard drug-store brands of hair care products - I think I've told him every day for the last two weeks how good his hair looks when he gets home and we are eating dinner, because, dammnnn it looks good!
He likes that he can just rinse his hands off and theres no weirdly sticky residue that lingers, and that it also washes out of his hair with one regular shampoo, so it's not building up on his hair or scalp. Again, we both love the scent - this is probably the nicest smelling hair care products I've ever smelled.
The cost is the majour thing on this one - holy crap it's expensive for a styling product. However, I would definitely consider buying this for my guy, along with the Oribe volume haircare line, as his hair looks better than it has in years, smells fantastic, and he seems a bit happier and more confident. *I* have also definitely noticed that he hasnt complained in weeks about how he can't style his hair right, because this just makes his hair nice without any fuss. Worth it, even if it is crazy expensive for a little container of product.
I got this sample of ORIBE "rough luxury" paste and I must say, I'm EASILY convinced this is a better product for my hair than Eufora paste.
There is nothing i dislike about this paste. Super smooth application. lathers superbly into hair. Makes your hair super moldable. And it STAYS. The end look, is a SLIGHTLY wet look , feels a bit on the oily side but that is what i like. It is definitely more oily feel than Eufora product which is very sticky.
I think i would easily use this product interchangeably with my usual eufora paste. I also think this oribe putty smells better. ... very "clean just showered" smell.
At the end of the day, my hair is still manageable, and the product hasn't "worn off". I can dampen my hair with a sprinkle of water, and it is revived for styling again.
price-wise, its about the same as my usual product but it does last a long time. That is subjective... i think hair products in general, are always overpriced.
That being said, there are other products that are similar and provide the same results at a lower cost; as long as you're ok with parabens or sodium chloride in your product. I like the Oribe brand but the price tag gets me every time.
This paste is a light hold paste that smells great with a hint of citrus. I tried it on wet hair and it gives just a bit of hold and definition. I tried it on dry hair and it succeeds in giving a great deal of definition but not enough hold to keep hair in place. So, what it ends up doing is just making my hair look greasy with very little pay off.
It may just be that I prefer a product with firmer hold but I've found many pastes that are very similar to this one over the years at the drug store for much less cost. I certainly see the benefit of using premium hair products but this one just doesn't seem worth it to me.
