Thank Heaven for Amazon. Having come across them a few years ago I can now afford to buy all those books that I often had to defer previously. To anyone out there who reads this review, Buy This Book! Should you like it, go and buy Book 1 in the series and keep going. By the time you've read every title you'll be ready to re-read this book again and however many others may follow it. As for me, I intend to keep reading about Allon's adventures until he or I reach our final resting place. May that still be a long way off!!
Intelligent writing, a great storyline, un-put-downable!
The Other Woman...this is not as uncommon as you would think..worldwide!
All the characters are believable and you have empathy for all of them..A great read.
Do yourself a favour and buy this book, you won't put it down , whether at home curled up on the lounge, in bed, or on a plane /train..anywhere!
Reminds me of the spy masters of yesteryear. In a very good way.
Top reviews from other countries
It is nevertheless a good book and a good plot. I have learnt a lot about the world of spies, on both sides, the West and Russia. There is somewhere in the book which mentioned by Graham Seymour around the idea of "what made a spy betrayed his country if it is not for money? To betray, I don't get it". ...
In addition, I think to build a plot / story around a true historical character without giving the reader an impression like a patch up job, but plotting the story as if it is a true event. This shows Daniel Silva's brilliance and skill as a storyteller in his own right, and definitely, a Master of his profession.
I liked the potted biography of Kim Philby which made the story more plausible.
I could not put this book down.
Thanks mate as we say in Australia? When is your next masterpiece coming out?
It makes you think this could in fact have some basis in truth so how many other historical events could be used to create more thrillers like this.
For once not to many dead bodies.
