Iroshizuku Fountain Pen InkRefill your Pilot Fine Writing fountain pen with our Iroshizuku inks. The name “Iroshizuku” is a combination of the Japanese words “Iro" (coloring), expressing high standards and variation of colors, and “Shizuku" (droplet), that embodies the very image of dripping water. Each ink name derives from the expressions of beautiful Japanese natural landscapes and plants, all of which contribute to the depth of each individual hue. |

The face on the nib is a cute addition and perfect for the target audience of this pen.
The barrel is moulded in a triangle to help you grip the pen a certian way, though might be annoying if you don't grip your pen like most people.
Being an EF nib it's not the smoothest, even with a very wet ink like iroshizuku, but that's always a trade-off with finer nibs.

If you bought this and thought "EHRMERGERD fountain pens are horrible", please reconsider and purchase a nice Lamy Safari, or even the Pilot Metropolitan. They are low priced fountain pens, very easy to maintain and have a wonderful writing flow.

EF nibs vary too and the Pilot EF nibs tend to write a bit dry. This makes this pen great for an ink like Baystate Blue which will bleed / ghost right through any paper you use if the nib is wet.
However, and this is a huge negative for me - the CON-40 and CON-50 converters do not fit securely in this pen. I mean, they will go on but they are really loose. I tried them both on empty and as soon as I tapped the barrel on the table from a height of 1 inch, the converters fell out.
The barrel has holes at the bottom to prevent kids from choking, which means I really can't risk using this with a converter because I don't want to throw out my clothes or fade them with bleach.
I have an old Pilot Cartridge from the Pilot Petite lying around so I filled that with Baystate ink to use with for now.
Eventually, I will probably swap the nib and feed into a Pilot Metropolitan I have lying around only so that I can use the converter again.
The grip is somewhat triangular, reminiscent of Lamy Safari. it is not all out triangular and rounds off at the tip.
The Pen is not too thick but I find the hexagonal pencil like shape distracting. This is entirely subjective though.
I think 3 stars are good, given that I am most likely going to be switching the nib and feed to my metropolitan because the CON-40 does not fit. I know that the seller did not make any such claims but that is one of the main reasons why I bought it.
If someone knows of a source for Pilot compatible EF nibs, please do let me know.

I use Carbon platinum ink with this pen, it's beautiful.
Only thing that could be better about this pen is the color options. Just a solid black would be great!
