This product is terrible, and after giving it three tries (using different amounts) I'm tossing it in the trash since it's not even eligible for returns. I have naturally wavy (non-kinky), long hair. I've been flat-ironing semi-regularly for fifteen years now and I've never used such a horrible heat-protectant product. When using the flat-iron, this product makes my hair crisp and hard and so it's really hard to straighten. The first time when finished it looked like I'd stuck my hand in an electric socket--my hair remained frizzy and got hard and it zapped out all the moisture. This time, combining it with some other product to make my hair softer (hair oil), after straightening my hair still has a gross crispy feel and is stringy looking. Using this product gives your hair a hard-core hairspray feel to it that makes it harder to properly straighten. I can't imagine it being a good product to use for any hair texture.
Made my hair feel like straw, took me 2x as long to use heat on my hair than when I've used other products. Item isn't eligible for return and the cap was broken when I opened up the package. Threw it away brand new won't ever but again.
The labling of this product got me. I was looking for a thermal protectant spray not a thermal protectant hair spray. I noticed this almost imediately after the first use. It had a scent similar to a hair spray and the feeling it left in my hair was also that which is similar to hair spray. That is when I checked the bottle and noticed that it was indeed a thermal hairspray. This is my fault for not doing further research before buying. This leaves my already compromised hair feeling very dry. I am currently only using it for a hairspray after styling but it doesnt seem to be strong enough to hold my curls very well. Just beware that if you are going to buy this it is not your average heat sheild/protectant spray.
This didn't seem like a heat protectant at all, and left my hair feeling like straw... dry and crunchy, like I had used hair spray and a flat iron. My daughter sells Paul Mitchell products at her salon, and told me I should return this, as she felt it wasn't the real product. Either way, while it might be ok for blow drying, what I wanted was to test various heat protectant products with a flat iron, and for that purpose, this was a fail for me.
This is what my daughter asked for, as a stocking stuff for. So I Ordered two cans thinking I would try it too. The shipping speed was wonderful, however, they came in a box with no packaging to protect them, and their red tops were broken to pieces. I tried taping my daughters up since it is a gift, but it looks terrible! It looks like I got it at a garage sale. Eventually it will just fall apart like mine did. So.... not happy at all with this order!
My hair has always been brittle and weirdly curled so I have to straighten my hair almost every day for work. I've been looking for something to help protect against heat. While this does a good enough job, I must have misunderstood that this is basically a hair spray. It is extremely heavy on my hair and makes it stick together more than I'd like. It also makes my hair greasy if slept on. So far, not my favorite, doesn't help keep my hair straight and I've noticed little difference in my hair's health after styling. Using this in tandem with Paul Mitchell's Smoothing Gloss drops helps soften my hair, but it is still not the soft and sleek texture I was going for. Especially at this price.
So this is exactly what it claims. a heat protectant and hairspray. However, just because it's also a protectant doesn't take away from the fact that it's a hairspray lol. Yes, my hair does have that "crunchy" hairspray feel after I curl it, but I will give it a huge credit that it protects the hair from heat REALLY well. My hair still looked healthy after curling it with high heat. Even the crunchiness, is nowhere near as bad as hairspray once you put heat on it. it's like a light hold hairspray feeling. But the curling iron did not glide through my hair smooth at all, and it took me very long to heat up my hair. Sooo pros and cons. I would say buy this if you go to events a lot where you will be sweating and need a good hold heat protecting. I would NOT suggest spraying it after you style it, though! That would be way too much. Smells like hairspray, bad in my opinion.
First off, I love Paul Mitchell because all of the products are cruelty free! That is my number one priority! Also if I understand correctly, any animal ingredients have been replaced with man made versions so that's great too! Now on to how it works. It works great! :D Warning though, I did make the mistake of using it on my wet hair before I blow dried it (should have read the instructions, I know). Any who, when used correctly it works great! It makes your hair incredibly shiny and soft and smooth! Not to mention it smells really nice. It works sort of like a hair spray as well so don't pack it on too much. I like to spray a little from far away and then when I am done spray it all over for a light hold. I love it!
The product itself works great. The packaging however came without the spray nozzle, with no option to return or exchange for one that works so I can’t get the product out. I have used this product before so I know that I like it but I don’t have another nozzle so I can’t even use this. ***UPDATE: they offered me a full refund and I will be purchasing this item again in hopes that I can get one with a nozzle
