I wasn't expecting to like this boot as much as i do. it fit so perfectly out of the box, didn't need to be broken in at all. i replaced the insole because i dont care for the flat type of sole canvas shoes tend to have. they look amazing. theyre such a versatile boot, i do yard work in them, i go for long walks in them with no pinching or uncomfortableness, and i use them at work where i stand in the same place for hours. theyre the perfect shoe for me. i haven't gotten to the point where they're wearing out so no comment on how durable they are over time.
After only three days, these boots are very nicely broken in!
Palladium boots are widely issued to the French Foriegn Legion and the Israeli Defense Forces. I can see why! For an inexpensive pair of simple canvas boots, they are comfortable and durable. This is great footwear for hot weather, exactly what I needed, exactly what I was looking for. Like most boots, they need a breaking-in period, and that didn't take long. They are much more comfortable than leather boots, when the temperature outside is above 90.
However, these boots may not be comfortable for everyone. They are well-made for the simple footwear that they are, but some wearer's may need some manner of cushioned insoles for better support. I did, and now they feel better. After wearing them all summer, they are still excellent in terms of breathable footwear, ...but they get rather-UN-comfortable if you have to walk for any extensive length of time. This is too bad, as I like Palladium boots, but some improvements ARE needed in support of the feet inside them.
These boots don't breathe worth a damn for being canvas. And the back of the heel was so stiff it gave my bruises on my heels. My feet were in unbearable pain after an 8 hour shift. I even had Dr. Scholls soles in them and I couldn't stand them.
