I had been toying with the idea of trying Wen through QVC but couldn't justify the price tag as I didn't need all the extras that came with the offer, and it had variable reviews. I then saw the Palmers Olive Oil Co-Wash and was persuaded by the other reviewers with a similar hair type to mine, but slightly dissuaded by some of the reviews of its fragrance. Then I found this coconut version and promptly ordered it.
The fragrance was very sweet to start off with but I no longer notice that and I can't really detect any fragrance on my hair.
I used 10 pumps on my first wash, and have stuck with that as I'm thrilled with the results, and my hair condition has improved. It's so much easier to get a brush through it after washing and when I've walked the dog (usually ends up in knots). It does feel thicker, silky and I love running my fingers through it now. Some other reviewers have said the olive oil one weighs their hair down; the only time I had a problem is when I didn't rinse it out properly. It seems a little less greasy at the end of the day to the extent that I can get away with a dry shampoo (bog standard Batiste) the next day if I'm super pressed for time (I would not have been able to get away with that before), and without having to restyle (my hair only does dead straight, or normally if I've slept on it, the dragged through a hedge look).
I still use a tiny bit of hair oil on the ends sometimes, less than before, and not every day. I can't imagine going back to normal shampoo and conditioner; I never got these results with premium products or even on leaving the salon! My hair is very happy!
If you have fine hair DO wash it everyday. I tried to persevere with doing so every other day & found I felt greasy & unattractive so to me that was pointless. It's fine to wash it daily, especially using this product. I often give my hair a break by leaving it to dry naturally or just drying the hair that frames my face.
DO BLOW DRY IT UPSIDE DOWN until 80% dry then style with a brush whilst drying until 100% dry. Or use a 'BaByliss New Big Hair' tool after 80% drying & just lightly brush it after use (to finish but not flatten it) for amazing lift! Persevere with the tool, I was unsure at first but it's great once you get the hang of it.
I think at first I used way too much of this, not spreading it over my hair enough. You do need to read the instructions and follow them.
If you do, you should get the amounts right.
I have dyed my hair, stripped it and bleached it.
My hair should really be like straw but, my hairdresser comments on how it is in such good condition.
I put it down to using cowash.
If you use too much, it will leave you hair feeling heavy.
If you don't rinse it enough, it might lead to it feeling greasy but, if you do as directed and rinse it well, it leaves your hair in real condition.
If I ever run out and use shampoo, my hair feels all 'stripped' - like all the oils and goodness have been torn out of it.
Once you get used to it, the lack of suds won't bother you and your hair will thank you!!!!
