Great book and a lot of sentimental value

Lots of stickers covering the cover and obscuring the title on the binding. Otherwise in great condition. Was the first Forgotten Realms book I ever read which hooked me to the series. Happy to have it back in my collection

Good Read!

Fantastic book! I've been reading the Forgotten Realms tales on and off for a few years, and the Parched Sea definitely lived up to my expectations!

Brutal

The only reason for this book is for DND lore, nothing else. It's a quick enough read, but the entire thing is lazy and contrived. I am glad to be done with it and hope this is the floor for quality.

There was just something missing in this one
Reviewed in the United States on 5 January 2005Verified Purchase
While this book was enjoyable for the most part, I really felt as if it was missing something throughout the story.. Its hard to say exactly what that something is, but I just wasn't fulfilled after this Harpers novel. More detail should have been provided in some instances and the background characters were too predictable (the sheiks and the Zhents). There's something else though that left me with a bored feeling throughout much of the novel. Maybe it was just a little too predictable or maybe I was just looking for something with a little more serious/mature feeling, but I just couldn't ever really get into Ruha and Lander's plight.
I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but I was surprised to see this novel getting an overall 4.5 star rating on Amazon.

Very slow and repetitive
Reviewed in the United States on 14 January 2014Verified Purchase
I had high hopes for this book as I really love the theme of the desert and nomad life in the forgotton realms setting,,However the story here is VERY slow and overly repetitive,,there are almost no fantasy elements in this novel at all..its basicly a bunch of tribe chiefs arguing with each other about what to do next,,,and alot of walking from one oasis to another..boring
