It is a bit big for my little kitten but she loves it and I am sure will last her a long time. She sits inside and on top and scratches it too. But also still scratches my sofa too though. Bit pricy but nice looking design. Shipping was very fast.
I bought one of these 4 years ago, but recently my 2 fur babies had been fighting over it, so I had to buy a second one for the lounge room. I also bought one for the bedroom. They absolutely love them !!!
When the scratcher first arrived, she was a bit scared as all her other scratcher are smaller in size. Once she got used to it, she loves it, sits on it to groom herself aside from scratching, it's good to see a big scratcher as ragdolls are bigger cats than regular cats. Other scratcher is usually 17" a bit short for ragdolls.
Unlike most things I buy that I want the cat to use, this one is actually used. Straight out of the box he was on it (probably to do with the cat nip scent as it was all in the same box) and now lies on it most nights. More importantly, he scratches it which is the main reason I wanted it. Looks good (hate the faux fur look on most scratchers) and is incredibly solid (I've stood on it, sat on it etc) plus it's kind of reversible so when the top is shredded, I'll turn it over.
Quite pricey, but I think it'll last a very long time (probably longer than a rope scratcher) and stops the carpets getting wrecked.
This is the best purchase I've ever made for my little tabby! It's like his very own sofa and often he can be found lounging on it (just like the picture) when he's not scratching it. We also use it in play time - I poke feathers through the gaps to tease him to pounce, and we bat ping pong balls back and forth though the gap underneath. Once it's scratched out on top, just turn it over for more! Thank you PetFusion!
It arrived with a dent in the scratching surface like it had been dropped or something heavy dropped on to it. No damage to the shrink wrap and it’s in a curved area which couldn’t have been impacted with the outside of box during transit. It looks like this happened in the factory before it was packaged... I guess it doesn’t matter that much because it will eventually all get destroyed, but at the price we have to pay and because this is meant to be some kind of piece of art thingy as well as a scratcher I was expecting it to be without any faults at all (at least until my cat got to it).
My second disappointment was the cardboard quality. In the videos I’ve seen the cardboard surface close up obviously looks like cardboard edge on, but it was very dense and looked different to the usual loose wavy line you find on cheap packing boxes. Not on mine it seems, I’ve got the same wavy cardboard which we all get for free every time we get a delivery.
I might just cut up the delivery box and make a second one. Could I have a fake product?
One other issue I noticed was that the coloured end plates are easily scratched by the cat’s claws. I haven’t seen this mentioned or shown before in any product videos. So even looking at it end on, it is likely to eventually get quite scruffy looking. At least on the Walnut Brown one, I cant testify if this is true of the other colours.
All of the above doesn’t seem to matter that much in the big picture as our cat loves it which is the most important thing. I specifically chose this design over the triangle and the large flat topped one, because there is a video on youtube where a lady got all of the different versions in one go and her cats apparently preferred the curved surface of this to lay on.
I can confirm this doesn’t seem to be a fluke as my cat also is attracted to the curve and loves to lay on it, grip the edge with one paw and fall asleep quite quickly. It is used as a scratcher as well, but the fact that it attracts the cat (even without nip) is a major plus for me as I don’t want it scratching other places just on this. Yea I know it’s a fanciful dream.
Worth every penny, even though it was quite a lot of pennies
My cat says I should give 5 out of 5, but I have to take one star off for the quality control issues
My Norwegians are right fussy but they took to this immediately. I had picked up some other cardboard scratchers in Europe on a recent trip and they were almost triple the price and I think the quality is the same. Really recommend and will replenish them when the cats have ruined them although they are holding up as well as the others!
