NOT THE REAL PHILOSOPHY. On the bottom of the bottle are Japanese lettering, the smell is off and ot feels like a thick goo coming out of the bottle instead of the creamy lather the real philosophy has.
I have never told someone to not purchase something in my entire life but I feel compelled to write a review so you can avoid the mistake that I made. After scouring the listings for different body washes and wanting to change up my routine with the current pandemic I ended up here. I chose the scent "Fresh Cream" figuring it would be the safest bet to choose without having smelled it in-person. The package came without a lid which was extremely annoying but I figured it wasnt the end of the world since it was sealed and I could try to find a different lid. I ripped open the seal and was super thrilled to smell it when I was met with the worst most chemical smell I have ever smelled in anything that I'd be expected to put on my body. The only way I can describe it is if you put an entire box of cheap crayons into a plastic container and had it in the heat, not long enough to melt but enough that the weird generic crayon smell just comes out, then add a piece of paper that touched vanilla extract just for the essence of it. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS. I thought I was being dramatic and used it in the shower, thinking it would even out or I was losing my mind with how this smelled, it was the same. The moment I dried off, my skin had no lingering scent whatsoever which I am grateful for because even having smelled the bottle a few days later to confirm my initial reaction I GOT AN ACTUAL HEADACHE.
I went into a major beauty store nearby that sells Philosophy products and as soon as I ripped open the seal it was night and day! It IS a different scent than what I had purchased here HOWEVER no weird plastic/chemical/crayon smell mixed into it, it is a rich lather which left a HEAVENLY lingering scent on my skin. I am 1000000% convinced either what was sold to me was made in 1980 OR it is FAKE. Please DO NOT PURCHASE THIS.
