These are small leaflet type books, so be aware of that, but to be honest that's perfect for my 5.5 year old. He is in year one, and I'd say his reading ability is fairly average for his age - he's probably near the top of his class but nothing out of the ordinary, and he can mostly read these to himself, with the odd bit of help here and there. So they are the perfect level for him and short enough that he can finish them in one sitting.
These books weer a little disappointing. While they cover some basic phonics in a subject matter that my son is interested in, each book only has 6 pages and very few words per page. We worked through them very quickly and my son memorised them after reading them only a couple of times.
I am so pleased I bought these. I've gone from having a 4 year old who absolutely refused to practice his reading during lock down to having a 4 year old who brings me another book every morning so that he can practice. He enjoys these far more than the books set online by his school, proof that one size does not fit all as he is now making efforts to read the story books we have at home as well, which he was avoiding before. Absolutely recommend these to help build confidence and enjoyment
Great book set for our 5 year old to read on his own and with us as there are different levels, plus if your kid loves turtles, they will want to read them all, fantastic, he still reads them after completing a few times each.
My son loves the Turtles and these books really have helped him to learn to read. Also the stories are short so he loves a couple before bed. The books gradually introduce new element and become harder. Each book has about 8 pages. We also brought the Paw Patrol set by the same company.
