The PlayStation Wireless Headset delivers amazing depth and audio clarity, elevating your gaming experience with customizable game modes created by developers exclusively for PlayStation. High fidelity 7.1 virtual surround sound breathes new life into the urban jungles and alien worlds you explore, while the hidden noise cancelling microphone makes it easy to connect with your friends and teammates. When you’re on the move, use your headset with your favorite mobile device via the included 3.5mm audio cable or fold it up into the included travel pouch until the next round. This is how games were made to sound.

However, the first one broke after 8 months when the plastic hinge cracked. Amazon provided a replacement which was great. 8 months later, the second one broke - the headband completely sheared. No replacement this time as they are no longer sold by Amazon, though I did get a refund.
The plastic build quality really lets these headphones down. I really can't recommend them based on two hardware failures, which is a shame, because the audio was always good.
Read the manual. Plug usb wireless connection dongle into PS4. Learn to switch on, know where mute for the mic is and how to turn vss or virtual surround sound on.
Further tweaking not required.
Friends in parties hear me perfectly and I hear the direction people are moving in and can gauge distance and direction. I dont even feel them on anymore. No more than 2 hours a session though. All day gamers or sensitive gamers might struggle with the weight but they are pretty comfortable.
My k/d ratio is over 1 now thanks to these little bad boys.
Have fun if you decide to get these.
Headset status is shown on the TV screen even during gaming when a button is pressed which is handy for knowing when the mic is muted or virtual surround is enabled.
Comfortable to wear over long periods and I get about 6 hours battery life per charge.
The only negatives are perhaps the placement of the controls, they all feel the same and it takes a while to memories what button does what. Also the balancing between game and voice audio is a bit of a fine art depending on the game. In Star Wars Battlefront I have to have the game audio to almost silent in order to hear what my friends are doing.
Out of all the PS4 headsets I've tried however, these are hands down the best and they work great with Steam on my PC too as the USB dongle is compatible with PC or Mac.
The sound quality is better than I could possibly imagine. I'm hearing in game details I would never have noticed before.
Compatible with the PS3, PS4 & Vita - I use them on a PS4.
The headphones can be used wirelessly. there is a small USB dongle that pugs into the console. This is used for the wireless connection. (There is an included 3.5mm headphone cable too if you want to use these headphones on a Vita)
In order to setup and customise the headphones sound profile when in use. (Bass etc...) an app must be downloaded onto the console. The Headphone Companion App is used to configure the sound quality to your personal tastes. The headphones have 2 presets that can be customised so. The user can then switch between Off/1/2.
The user may have to go deep into the PS4 settings in order to change the sound output so that the headphones are used instead of the TV.
I wear glasses and found the headphones to comfy and easy to wear for long periods.
Sound quality is amazing couldn’t fault them for that! And the virtual soundsound in the head phones makes a difference when playing FPS such as Call of duty and battlefield also found them very effective whilst play games such as Gran Turismo Sport! Another feature is the fact you can download different pre sets to the headphones via the app on the playstation called Headset Companion app!
The price dispite the glowing review of the sound that these produce the build quality is just not good enough! I have since received another set of these headphones due to them breaking on the hinge seems to be a very common fault and my 2nd set have broken again! So will be contacting amazon this time for a refund for something different! I don’t use my headphones often either maybe it could be the size of my head as these are all so very tight over my head.
2* rating from me sound great, build is very poor and they are very expensive I would personally suggest at this price looking at Turtle Beach headphones good build and fantastic sound as well
I hope you find this helpful.
Both pairs have been UK sourced, both used carefully at home and both broken within a year.
The frustration is that the electronic parts of these headphones/headsets work brilliantly, they are comfortable and easy to connect to Playstation. The battery life is good and the connection they make strong and stable.
If just that they break at the hinges no matter how careful you are with them and the the Sony Customer Support experience...... Awful doesn't start to describe it.
So don't buy these, they are excellent electronically, poor physically and don't expect help from Sony when they break.
It is lightweight and comfortable, It doesn't fatigue or tire me out even during marathon gaming sessions. It is over ear and my ears fit snugly inside without touching the cover over the driver.
Soundwise it is impressive. Bass response is tight and present. I don't think this is one for serious bass heads though as I don't seem to get a lot of sub bass coming through but there is definitely enough for explosions in game, helicopters flying overhead and if you are watching action movies.
The mids and highs are are brought out beautifully and are crisp without being too harsh. I have noticed a lot more detail and subtle details in games audio which definitely helps with the overall immersion and game experience.
Speaking of immersion, the virtual surround feature works as it should. Its easy to hear exactly where things voices or bullets are coming from. You can turn this feature on or off if you prefer just having stereo.
There is little to no sound leak either. So the misses or anyone else around you won't hear or be disturbed if you are in game or watching a movie late at night. This also works the other way too, as you will struggle to hear if anyone is trying to talk to you or if your house catches fire or something. So isolation / noise cancellation on the whole is exceedingly good.
Listening to music through these headphones is OK. Its a lot better than some headphones but hardly what you would call HIFI. Sure the sound is good enough but those looking for the most out of their music would fair better elsewhere, I would say these bring out the best of video games better.
The microphone is built in and can be muted by a button on the side of the left can. Its worth mentioning that all of the buttons are easily accessible and memorised so you won't need to take the headphones off to press anything. The quality of the mic is superb. My friends or fellow gamers can clearly hear me getting frustrated after losing a match.
A nice feature is the way it works with the PlayStation 4. With a quick press of the PS button, you can see the info about the status of your headset on screen. Likewise when you change volume or mute, the icons will display on screen. Using the PlayStation controller, you can adjust volume of the microphone.
There is also the headphone companion app for PlayStation 4, where you can download specific profiles (which I assume is just different EQ settings) Which suits the game you are playing. The profile can then be stored to the Headset. Its a nice feature to have but whether you will tinker about before selecting titles across different genres or not I don't know.
The battery life has been OK. I suppose it lasts roughly around 4 to 5 hours, maybe a bit longer, but that's the longest I have gone before charging. Charging via USB is quite quick and if you have a long USB cable then just use it while it is charging.
Currently at £49 I would say it's a bargain
This headset is comfortable, pleasingly understated and with an internal mic that won't get in your way. Its wireless range is good and the bluetooth holds a steady signal. The audio quality is respectable and more than satisfactory for playing games, and the mic is clear (though, as both people I chat with and I could hear from all our Wireless 2.0 headsets, the mics pop painfully loudly with regularity).
Just be aware that you're taking a chance with a cheaply made product.
Before buying anything from amazon I always scroll down to the reviews and most of the negative reviews I read on this headset were sure to the folding hinge breaking and I put that down to user negligence and heavy handling. So I’ll be fine.
I have had these since October 2018 they were amazing.
Audio quality is outstanding, the chat v game sound mix function could be better pressing a button to have either sound raised or lowered is a bit basic and PlayStation really should have added a chat/game mixer to their companion app.
But overall the sound quality is perfect while they are charged, using them with the audio cable plugged into the controller however you can not turn volume up or down, nor can you configure chat/game sound so that £100 worth of headphones turns into a £10 pair from the market stool.
After 3 months of use the outside of the plastic on the head band has several stress cracks in the same place on both sides.
I would’ve expected a little more wear out of £100, I emailed the amazon seller requesting a replacement or refund a few days ago and the very next day I dropped them on to a carpeted floor for the first time and have since joined the playstion 2.0 Bluetooth headset negative review community as the plastic that holds the hinge bar in place has completely snapped.
Completely ruining my chances of either a replacement or refund.
So after 3 months. My advise
Only buy these if your going to use them every now and then. They are not built to last and don’t ever, ever drop them.
Unless you don’t mind them being held together with sellotape looking like you bought them from a charity shop
