I use this wedge slicer at my American Legion Post for our fish fry fundraiser. Place the lemon or lime in the base, push down on the blades and you have perfect wedges, is that easy. Clean-up is a breeze, I use a dish washing wand or place it on the top rack of your dishwasher and your done. I plan on getting another one for my job as a bartender. Using a wedge slicer is easier and faster than a paring knife.
Used when making a large amount of salad for a function, loved it. A word of caution, however, the blades are really sharp and care needs to be taken when cleaning. I cleaned ot by filling it with soapy water while assembled and shaking rather than trying to clean the blades by contacting them.
It’s really handy. If you take the time to stack the grapes in the same direction, you can get more uniform halves, but I just put the grapes in filling it up and sliced away. Some halves were more 70/30 vs. 50/50 but it did the job. I haven’t tried cherry tomatoes yet but I’m sure it will work just fine.
My wife eats salad every day for lunch with added fish leftovers from the previous night. She adds grapes and tomatoes that she can quickly slice with the Zip Slicers. We have two so she can alternate between them!
Absolutely love this product! Cut my cutting down to seconds. Just load and push the blade through and presto those pesky grapes and tomatoes are cut and you don't have to fight with them rolling all over the cutting board! Be aware the more space between the object and the tube can mean unequal cuts on that object. I don't mind it though!
This is a wonderful product! Last night I made a Caprese salad with mini heirloom tomatoes and pearl mozzarela. It probably took me all of 3 minutes to make it with this handy dandy contraption! The tomatoes were of various sizes so naturally they were not all split exactly in half but that's fine by me for a quick and casual dinner salad. I even put the mozzarella in there, not knowing if it would work. I dried the excess water off first, popped them in the tube and they sliced easily. I did have to shake it to get them out but it only took a second. Much faster than slicing by hand!!!
