The basket itself is perfect for my dog. I give it 4 stars because i tried everything to get it to work on my bike without rubbing. I had to order suggested rack in than perfect. My dog is 14 lbs rat terrier. If your dog is smaller you could go with a smaller basket without a rack. This is large enough she can reposition herself. Perfect for what I felt we needed. Good times ahead for us biking this summer. Holly is 12 and loves adventures. Wheee!

it is NOT as sturdy as you might think, although I think it is a great product.. Our 20# Yorkie-Poo, Guinness, is about the largest dog you would be able to carry in this. I knew this before I purchased it, and so also purchased separately a front bicycle rack to support the weight. Even with the rack, the carrier was very flimsy and could move easily from side to side. I had to build a wood shelf for the rack to make it stable. After all of that, it does work great! Without the additional rack I do not think this product would work at all. Having said that, I think it is an excellent product in itself, but with limitations.
