Photo demonstrates the difference in padding. Save yourself the hassle and just get the proper Bose replacements.
These are comfortable, have a high quality feel that compares in comfort to the genuine replacement part; good build quality, and even includes a blue ‘spudger’ to help you correctly mount the pads.
All in all, quite satisfied and happy to have purchased.
Grey is also a nice contrast to the previously all black headphones.
I like the the build quality, the comfort of the memory foam padding, and the feel of the material.
Top international reviews
Fazit: Für den Preis absolut Top aber an die original Polster von Bose kommen sie nicht ran
1. They are much cheaper than the manufacturer's equivalent, but the pad material is definitely of comparable quality.
2. The package includes a headband replacement as well as ear pads - and both needed replacing on my old QC2 headphones.
With regard to fitting, as other reviewers have said you do need to watch the YouTube video dedicated to fitting the headband - this is harder than fitting the ear pads, as it was never intended (by Bose) to be replaced. Search for "ahg qc2 bose" - the video you want runs for just over 14 minutes. The package includes all the tools you'll need, with the exception of a pair of scissors to remove the old headband.
The new headband fits well. Note that it does have a slightly different appearance to the original, because of the way it zips into place. At the end of the fitting process, you may need to make small manual adjustments to ensure a snug fit between the headband and retaining clip on each side, especially on the side with the end of the zip.
There is not much to say about fitting of the ear pads - the old parts are easily removed and replaced with the new components. No tools are needed, just a little manual dexterity.
Here's the end result of my efforts. I'm happy with my "new" headphones.
Absolutely delighted with it. The price was excellent for what you get: 2 cushions, 2 liners and a tool to help remove and replace the parts.
Had next day delivery with Prime and am a delighted customer.
Hadn't even realised you could replace them, till a web search told me so and pointed me to these.
Great quality, and very easy to fit once you see how they fix on - a three minute job.
An added bonus was the smart replacement shims marked L and R which also just fitted straight on.
So for well under £20 and a couple of minutes work, headphones good as new again.
I'd have preferred it if grey or white was available instead of the black, but that's just me being picky I guess.
They sound just the same, were never good at cutting out outside noise, and these are no different, but I find them more comfortable than the originals - a softer fit.
So in summary, if your old ear pads need replacing, don't hesitate.
You won't be sorry :)
And on a related side note - having had to replace the cable for the headphones last year, it really goes to show the value in buying headphones with replaceable parts like this.
While they do make for an adequate replacement, i'm pretty sure that the foam they use is not the same as the Bose memory foam. My ears could feel the difference. But anyway its better than how i had them before with the foam falling out, they looked like they needed to be thrown out. Now they look almost as good as new! Nobody would ever be able to tell that the cushions have been replaced by looking at them. I guess if you were familiar with original Bose ear cushions then you might be able to tell if you were wearing them for an extended time period. So far they are good, the comfort is still great.
I started looking out for this replacement headband and found it here. I placed the order and it quickly arrived through the letterbox. All I needed was the confidence to fit it so on went the video again with the kit, headphones and tools in front of me. I took my time and followed the video stanley knife in hand, gulped, held my breath and cut away. The clips are awkward to fit but as I say take your time. It has ended up being £16 well spent. In fact the headphones fit snug just like they did when new... go for it !!
The only fiddly bit can be the zip, but to be honest was a breeze with the included paper clip (great idea), and the new plastic brackets that keep the ends locked down. As long as you pull the black plastic on the headband down past the two little groove, hold larger bits in place and pack the leather down inside before lining up and screwing down the underside parts it all fits perfectly.
The only CON I have, and its in no way an issue or complaint, is that the new plastic clips are larger than the original. I totally get why they are as they need to allow room for the ends of the zip, but it just makes them stand out more.
So if you are looking for an identical replacement in terms of look, these aren't quite there, but if you just want to give your QC15s a refresh then you couldn't ask for more.
These are the muts!
The real taste test will be tomorrow as I'm due to fly. I'll be able to tell if the noise cancelling is comparable to the Bose ones and will update my review.
If you're unsure about buying these, just get them. My 3 year old Bose QC35 headphones feel like brand-new again!
