There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
I'd list more but the stupid thing lacks a search function.
Another annoying thing - you can't use this without putting in a credit card. Anyway, too many annoying things about this product for me to recommend anything from Roku. This thing is a sack of schnitz for anyone outside of US & Canada.

But that is when all the positive things end. If you happen to live in UK as myself, be aware the roku stick is meant for the American market, and probably all these positive amazon reviews you find in the amazon UK page are american reviewers, not UK ones.
I bought this device following the reviews on amazon, YouTube and Google, thinking that the list of channels you can get for free would be available here.
Channels that are free of charge like the Roku channel, crackle, tubi TV, just to mention a few of the best are region restricted and not available in the UK. So basically you are left with a series of subscription based channels the like of Amazon Prime, Netflix, Google play Movies, to mention a few or a series of free to view low quality content IMHO. All these subscription based channels are already available to any smart tv owner, and makes the steaming stick superfluous.
It can make sense for anyone with a non smart TV with hdmi ports, then the money would be worth it as you can make your device smart for £50 at the time of this review, 01/09/19.
So, if you want to free the full potential of your streaming stick and enjoy all the free quality content you must pay for a VPN service, spoiling the whole concept of watching content for free.
I hope you can find this rewiew helpful so you can make an educated decision on this purchase, thanks.
So finally, I got through to support and they have created a returns for me. However I have to pay to first ship out the faulty device back to them before they can ship a replacement for me. I argued about bearing the cost of shipping for a device that is clearly faulty under warranty but they will not bear the shipping costs. So be careful if you want to buy this as it could go faulty and your eventual cost of ownership will definitely go up not to talk of the inconvenience.
It was quick and easy to set up, it connects to my WiFi without any issues and the fact that it can output in 4K is very impressive.
The menus are fast and intuitive and the apps are plentiful too. Altogether I regularly use iPlayer, ITV Hub, 4OD, My5, Netflix, Prime, YouTube, Vimeo, Now TV and Plex.
The remote control is easy and quick to use, it uses a wireless connection for the Roku functions and infrared for the TV volume and power.
The only things I would change if I could would be to include a mute button on the remote, and for the Roku to be able to connect directly into an ethernet port (like the Chromecast Ultra does).
Overall a great product, we've only got the one Roku at the moment, but now that I know how good it is I'll be getting another one for the bedroom!
But I have a HUGE problem with geoblocking. Almost nothing is available in my country.
Not even their official Roku channel and official roku app. I can't even download their app on my phone! In the support chat, they told me that their official channel doesn't work outside of the US. But the fact that they are geoblocking even their own official android app is unacceptable to me.
I guess I'm going to return it, since I specifically bought it (and it's not cheap) for Amazon prime video, which is available in my country, but it is geoblocked through Roku. I guess Amazon geoblocks their app in Roku because they want to sell their fire stick instead.
So, my advice is: If you want to buy it, search the available channels in your country beforehand, or contact their support service and ask them about geo-restrictions in your region.
They never clearly mention to their site that many of the things they advertise are available only in a few countries. Practically, the only thing I can watch is Netflix and Youtube, so there's no reason to keep Roku, I'll just go back to my Chromecast. Unfortunately, Google wins.
We have the biggest package so Broadband, Phone, and ALL TV with Virgin but at £130 a month its a little ridiculous considering a lot of the channels are wasted, so I checked out BT and Sky AND some other smaller less known companies but the problem was, that to use one of these companies we would lose something!
This is what I did - I uploaded the NOW TV app for me upstairs. I pay 7.99 a month for the entertainment pass and purchased a Roku plus stick (a one off payment) at £65.14, ok so a little more expensive than some of the other sticks out there but very worth it!
I have ALL the channels and LOADS more ie Sky Atlantic via the NOW TV pass (which Virgin dont have and neither do BT so unless I went with Sky I would never have got)
I called Virgin and told them I wanted to downgrade my package - My broadband speeds were never ever what Virgin said I was gettingm, so that may as well be downgraded. I never found any of their boxsets much good and I already have Netflix and Amazon Prime TV so they could get shot of Sky Cinema. The two extra box sets upstairs were a waste of time (one in my room) so they also could go! Oh and we NEVER use our landline -
The response from Virgin was "dont worry keep everything you have including the two box sets and we will upgrade you to the absolute highest broadband! £87 all in a month!
Ok, so if you work out a monthly cost Im paying £6.80 for Prime (but thats not just TV as most of you on here will know) £6.99 for Netflix £7.99 for NOW TV (but it has Sky Atlantic) ;) Total 21.78
I now pay Virgin £87 so all in £108.78 thats a monthly saving of £21.22 (£254.64) a year!
That makes my Roku Stick that I paid £65.14 for £5.43 a month over a year and then thats paid off...
If I had just moved in to my house and was looking for a Phone, Broadband, Sports/TV package I would 100% not go with one company! I would find the best of each!
This Roku stick is amazing - The interface is so easy to use and love the voice control. To give you a idea it takes usually 20-30 seconds for lets say BBCi Player to load via my Virgin box and almost just as long if I used the already installed app on my TV - It sometimes lags badly or jumps back to normal TV - With Roku its pretty much instant!
Ive tested a lot of the apps and going through Roku to Netfix and Amazon Video is also a lot quicker - There is no lag and the stick takes you to all the app options you want... For Example: your looking to play a film, lets say The Greatest Showman - Search the film - It then gives you a list of all the apps that you have installed with that film on!
I cant praise Roku enough for this little gem of a stick - Its non obtrusive and the remote can pic it up instantly even hiding behind the TV
Sorry for the long winded review and I may have lost track at the beginning but I know there are a lot of people like me in a similar situation! - Ps you can only get SKY ATLANTIC via SKY so that means signing up to their TV or Via the NOW TV app (which Im new too but thats brilliant too)
Just get a ROKU - its far better than any other stick or streaming devise Ive ever tried -
