The description said that it came with a CD, and I assumed it would as listening to the music is a major part of the Suzuki method, but I only received the book. The book seems to cover the basics of beginning violin, but is pretty light on the street music. I will be interested to see how things go when my daughter stays using it.
this has some great information in it. But the first 18 pages or so only 1-2 pages are english. So this very small book of 48 pages has 16 pages or so in a different language. Every page has 4-5 languages listed for the correct word, etc to use. Not exactly what I was thinking. Using this book to teach violin and I am already half way through with only the first lesson. The rest of the book has some songs, scales, etc in it.
Well, I think the Suzuki method is over-rated. It's not all bad, but certainly gets too much hype. My daughter loves to play the Twinkle Variations, but finds it absolutely maddening that the songs are played at concert speed on the cd. For a small kid, it just builds frustration to try to keep up. It would be nice if there were Twinkle at Various Speeds on the cd - instead of just one speed: super fast.
