- Customer Reviews:
Sailor Jerry Spiced Caribbean Rum is named in honour of Norman Sailor Jerry who was the master of tattooing and spent much of his life on the Caribbean sea. Spiced with local Caribbean ingredients like vanilla and lime, this is a rum with a heavy-hitting flavour but at the same time is super smooth to drink. Perfect for adding an extra kick to your cocktails.
From the manufacturer
The undisputed father of the old-school tattoo, Norman 'Sailor Jerry' Collins build his rep tattooing in Hawaii's brawling Hotel Street district of Honolulu, where sailors and soldiers came to raise hell before heading off to war.
He was a master craftsman of unflinching integrity and in his name, we make our rum. Blended with the finest rums from the Caribbean and our unmatched recipe of natural spices.
Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum seeks its own path in life… Like the free-spirited man who inspired the drink - the old school tattooist, Norman ‘Sailor Jerry' Collins. He lived by always ‘originating not imitating'.
We believe in making rum the authentic way, the way men drank rum back in the day. That means it's distilled to 80-proof (40% ABV), spiced and smooth.
Taste-wise, rich vanilla tones with warm hints of cinnamon and nutmeg, just about sums up the flavours. We're extremely proud of the finish - long and dry with a balance of subdued sweetness and a hint of toasted toffee.
There are many creative, tasty gingersome ways that you can add more heat and punch to Sailor Jerry. Try our favourites: Jerry Loves Ginger, Ginger Spiced Rum, Negroni Ginger, Daiquiri Ginger and Rum Old Fashioned.

Taste wise, this is pretty similar to C Mo, maybe a little dark and complex in taste, but at least as rough on the throat going down. I always drank C Mo neat too, but since finding much smoother (and tastier) rums, I don't think I could now, and definitely I find this hard going neat, I didn't realize just how rough some alcohol can be until I'd been drinking much smoother ones.
It's not terrible, and I imagine if you're a rum and coke girl then this is as good as any, and with the 40% by volume, perhaps a slightly better value proposition than some others. But that's the point, as good as any other, and by that I mean, any other cheap rum that you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between once there's a bunch of some other mixer in there.
I certainly won't be buying this again, the Dead man's fingers I had before it was only slightly more expensive and in a whole different league not only in flavor, but in smoothness. If this was smoother, I think I'd like it a lot more, since it's a pretty standard traditional rum flavor, which is of course what drew me into rum rather than other spirits in the first place.
3 stars since it's just so very average. Right down the middle, not special in anyway, not awful in anyway, just...
