They are pricey but you get what you pay for! Fast rolling, great on hard pack and muddy conditions both. I wouldnt run them in extreme conditions but for cross country they work excellent. They wear pretty well considering the soft compound but good race tires always do. Excellent tubeless choice, dont run them on the road if you want them to last a little longer.
There is no denying that these tires are great, i had no problem sealing them to my Easton EA90 rims and they are very light, handle incredibly and have low rolling resistance..... having said that they are not that strong. the first race i rode with this tire, the sidewall got slashed and the hole was too big for Stans to seal it. Now this could just be bad luck but I've been riding mountain bikes since the mid 90's and have never experienced this with any other tire and although the trail i was on was fairly rocky, I've ridden it probably 100 times on a Specialized fast track (a heavier tire i know) and never had a problem.
I race xc so its important to have traction and less weight. They give me more confidence than any tire. 5 star for sure. Haven't experienced a tear inthe sidewall like many have stated and iI've put these to the test.
There isn't many brands making 650b tires, so I found there tires work perfectly in muddy conditions. My only concern is they are a little bit too thin, so there is a need to be extra careful with rocks and roots. I find it expensive, compared to the price of the 26', I hope some other brands other than Kenda and Schwalbe start making theirs soon!!!
Grippy and fast on our local trails which consist of DG and packed sand/gravel with loose marbles on the surface. The wide spaced knobs get through the loose surface to the hardpack and sticks well in the turns for such a fast rolling tire. Don't know about the wear yet, but given the grip I suspect that will be the trade-off for speed. Can't have everything.
Years and years ago there was the Panaracer Smoke. Racers in the late 80s swore by that tire for it's low rolling resistance and it's all weather traction. This tire continues to draw similar reports from contemporary racers, blessed as they are with a breath of flavors unavailable to us some 25 years ago. Riding style does dictate taste here but I'll simply note that as a 145lb, east coast, expert racer with, well, a lot of years in the saddle, I still have yet to find a better front tire (I favor a Raven in the back). Like the Smoke, I've no doubt that a better tire will come around at some point but for now, This is IT !
