Great moisturizer but the dispenser stops working hallway through the bottle. Have to take off the top and pour out the rest. It's either a design flaw or they do it on purpose so you have to get a new bottle sooner.
4.0 out of 5 starsStrong old-fashioned fragrance; mostly natural, not hypoallergenic

This is a good lotion, but the scent is too strong for me. It's a pleasant floral scent, with some coconut in the mix, there's just more of it than I prefer. And it's persistent, lingers for hours. I see quite a range of views about the fragrance in the reviews here. Some find it just right.
The lotion absorbs into the skin quickly, and leaves only a slight waxy, greasy feel, which is OK for moisturizing, but it isn't a heavy-duty moisturizing cream that can last for hours or withstand hand washing.
The list of ingredients can be viewed in the second image on the Amazon product page, which shows the back label. The main ingredients are mostly natural, with water, shea butter (15%), glycerin, and coconut oil derivatives as the first four ingredients by weight, and there are numerous fruit and other plant extracts. There are also some synthetic ingredients, nothing very controversial, mostly rated low (the best rating) for health and environmental concerns by Environmental Working Group, which monitors cosmetics ingredients. A few ingredients, such as benzyl alcohol and linalool (those two happen to be naturally occurring chemicals also produced synthetically), are rated a medium concern for concentrations higher than the very small amounts in this lotion, or in regard to manufacturing issues. Some of the chemicals used, such as Lilial (butylphenyl methylpropanal), can cause irritation or allergic reaction in sensitive people (which is true of many natural ingredients as well).
The front label has raised Braille lettering for "Shea Body Lotion," a nice touch.
4.0 out of 5 starsSlightly *Greasy* Until It Dries & Has *Flowery* Scent

I've been using the L'OCITANE SHEA BUTTER BODY LOTION on my hands and feet just before bedtime for the past month and I am impressed with how it softens my skin, making it appear healthy and smooth.
The cuticles around my fingers are excessively dry and cracked, I usually get hang-nails easily and I have to clip them with cuticle cutters, and I get the same on a couple of my toes (not so much the cuticles but the front of the toes) and using the L'OCCITANE every night and those issues have been minimized greatly.
I still have some dry spots on my right thumb and some on my middle finger of the right hand, but otherwise my hands look and feel healthy. Likewise, my feet are in much better shape and I can go much longer in-between using the Ped-Egg on the dry calluses than before I was using the lotion.
I knocked off one-star because the lotion is somewhat greasy after you put it on, but it does dry pretty fast, and there is a floral type scent that reminds me of the "Rose Milk" lotion or Nivea type lotions, so it lingers for a while, but it isn't overpowering.
Because it is a fairly heavy-type lotion, I don't want to use it on my body because I tend to break out. Otherwise the L'OCCITANE SHEA BUTTER BODY LOTION is pretty good and worth it.
4.0 out of 5 starsmilky with a smooth texture it leaves coats my skin well even after washing

I have used L'Occitane's 20% Shea butter for my hands. They are constantly dry since I have to wash my hands at least 20 times a day. It has been a life saver. Before using the cream I was constantly getting paper cuts and my fingers could get rough. So I was excited to try the body lotion. It is a lot thinner but it also does a great job of coating my skin even after I wash it, it still stays on. The lotion has a smooth, milky texture that glides wonderfully on the skin. The only thing I don't like it that is has a rather strong smell that is little chemically. If you are highly sensitive or allergic you may find it too fragrant and find yourself sneezing. I really enjoy using this product, it is good for dry skin and retains moisture better than most lotions.
