I purchased this for my small dog. I used the measurement chart correctly and ordered what I felt was the proper item. But unfortunately it was to long. It fit correctly AROUND my dog's snout, but was so long that if she wore it correctly it would literally choke her. Maybe my dog just has a really short snout, But the picture was kind of misleading...... it shows a small dog with a shorter snout then my dog, it fit nowhere near like in the picture........ I dont know. And since they dont do returns now I have this muzzle. Anyhooooo, do some real research before purchasing. Either way, can't really go to wrong for $9.
We got this because sometimes our rescue pup gets a little antsy and nippy - he had an ear issue and we needed to clean the injury, but he wouldn't let us near it without trying to bite. So we got the muzzle, measuring his snout and following the size guide.
Pros: it seems fairly comfortable for a muzzle (at least for the short periods we needed it for, which was only like 3 minutes at a time to clean the ear) and it's easy to use.
Cons: it didn't really fit - it was too big (following the size guide) so he can slide his nose out, which doesn't make it useful. But we can't return it or exchange it for another size, which means we're stuck with a muzzle that doesn't really work. I may try to alter it by hand, since I might as well, but I wish it had followed the size guide better.
My dog is very anxious and can try to bite when he feels like he's under attack. I introduced this to him with some kibble and blueberries in my hand while placing it on him. I slowly adjusted the clip until he could no longer pull it off with his paws. He really doesn't like it, but it protects us when we clip his nails and take him to the vet for his shots. I think the size I got for him is a little large on him but it made of a great material and I believe will last a longtime. My dog is a 14lb terrier and we got a size 2.
I ordered a size 2 muzzle for my dog; description of product said it would fit a beagle, & my dog is about the same size. Product arrived quickly but was much too small, couldn't even get it on him. I used my credit card rewards points, so it didn't cost me anything & would cost me more to send back, so I just kept it & will give it to my Veterinarian at our next visit, as I'm sure he will be able to use it. The product seems to be well made & durable, & I only ordered it in hopes that it would help so I could attempt to cut my dog's nails rather than taking him somewhere that stresses him out more. My advice would be to order a size larger than what the description says.
Size 2 was the recommended size but was NOT big enough for my 25lb beagle. He had it off in less than 5 mins damaging the product in the process. I suggest spending a little bit more money on a better product as I just wasted $7 on this. Thankfully, it was only $7. May work better if the size recommendation was correct.
Buyer beware. The sizing charts are NOT a good indicator of the muzzle that’s right for your dog. The one we selected based on the measurements, was WAY too small for out Springer Spaniel and this third party has a policy of NO RETURNS. Evidently there’s small print that indicates no returns so we can’t exchange it.
I have two maniac dogs that I love dearly. they are mini-aussie/mini-heeler crosses. I had aussies growing up and I have to say these little girls are 10x the energy! they wake up early and need to go outside and the very first step onto the deck it's "BARK BARK". They don't even see anything but they're barking. it's like stretching or something! but since its 7am, I got to respect my neighbors. So after trying lots of things to curb the barking, we have set on a system of putting these on them for the 5 min it takes them to do their am business. also, same thing for the last time of the night. if not, they're surely barking at 10pm. The thing I hate about it is that they can't pant so it's like they can't breath, so I worry the whole time it's on them. It's not good for anything but a few minutes. we have a cage muzzle too, which allows them to pant, buy my girls can bark it up in that thing. :) Buy this muzzle for short stints in desperate situations.
