Sizes are quite strange, so when I ordered the muzzle for my Doberman it was large for her. I had a seamstress sew it so that it fit better, and it seemed to do the trick. Very strong material, and I suppose that I would have ordered a size down for my dog ideally if I didn't get it "tailored." In case anyone has a doberman, I ordered a size 5, so I would not recommend that size for this breed.
The sizes is off on this. I was going to order a size 4 but based on reviews decided to go up to a 5. I'm glad I did it leaves enough room for her to pant and be able to get a drink but she won't be able to latch on to anything. She isn't mean but I rescued her at two years old and she was not socialized properly so her first instinct out off anxiety is it lash out at them and tell them to back off. Just a quick bite and that's it she doesn't latch its more of a nip. But I am still cautious about it. And for others safety and her safety as well a muzzle is the best bet. She is a pointer mix. The front part of her snout by her nose measured 9 inches. And the back portion a 9 and a half. If I would have ordered a 4 i think it would have been too tight. Over all good construction not thin or flimsy, but not overly thick either.
Have a rescue shep. mix, he's great but has potential to lunge at other dogs and has done so. We minimize all risk of biting with the muzzle. For the price, it's been good. Have had it for about 6 months, he wears it every day when we go out to public places. One part is kind of falling off but can be sewn back in place. At the front, around nose, lots of fraying. He could still nib a dog though with it on. We're going for a basket muzzle next instead. Great for travel or limited use but not a long lasting, every day muzzle.
These ARE NOT true to size. The size suggested for a lab/German Sheppard would fit a puppy.. maybe. The one sized to fit great Danes fit my lab. Theres no way to adjust the muzzle around the mouth/nose. Only around the head. Don't waste your money on these. Walmart had a better one. :(
The product is made well and does the job, but did not fit my chow lab mix, like it should since her snout is short and wide and this would fit better for a long and thinner snout. Still it seemed to keep her from being as aggressive and barking, even though I think she had room to bite if she wanted to. I don't know if I ordered the wrong size or they are all made the same, but a good product for the price, if you can get the correct size.
Works really well for my black lab. He is a great dog but just doesn't love other dogs. So we put this on him so he can still go hiking with us. He can breath but not open his mouth enough to bike. He doesn't love it, but gets used to it after a bit. We try to give him breaks when we can.
The paper that came with it was very detailed and spelled out the different sizes and breeds. This info was not in the description before purchasing. Therefore I now have the wrong size and need to return. Please place all necessary details and info on the description.
