Arrived quickly however guitar is noticeably out of tune when using it Better off using a free app off your phone. I didnt notify the seller, I would rather just throw it in the bin and not waste any more energy ( fuel, transport, time, money) on it. Ita apity it was supposed to make it easier for my son to just pick up the guitar and tune it and get him away from the phone screen.

I would have given this 4 stars if it hadn't been for the instructions - I am using it on acoustic guitars, bouzouki and mandolin and it seems pretty accurate and picks up the resonance more reliably from the headstock than my previous clip-on tuner. However, when I read the instructions, it says 'Do not use on any Gibson guitar or guitar with nitrocellulose finish'. It also advises against using it on instruments having polyurethane, French polish or oil finishes. As far as I am aware, all my guitars, and most high end guitars, have nitrocellulose finish, some cheaper guitars have polyurethane and some expensive guitars have French polish or oiled finish. I am at a bit of a loss as to what acoustic guitar you could use this on, according to the instructions. I can only guess that the manufacturers are paranoid about a slight risk of damage to finish so put this in as a kind of disclaimer, but a clip on guitar tuner that advises you not to use it on pretty much any acoustic guitar seems a bit useless to me. I use it, but don't leave it on when I don't need it. Perhaps the manufacturer would be happy with it on some electric guitars, depending on finish, or perhaps a plastic ukulele!

I have several of the earlier versions of the Snark, having been a fan since their inception. This new version is a much brighter and clearer screen than previous ones and works faster too. The hz button works fine and the reading is clear although relatively small on the main screen. Like the Peterson tuners the hz display is about getting very fine tuning, however fans of the strobe tuning on those won’t have the same visual cues. The Snark is good enough to get my Classicals and Electrics easily and quickly in tune. The instructions do say do not put it on ANY Gibson guitar and nitrocellulose finishes, the previous reviewer was right about that. Older versions of the Snark had similar warnings but not about Gibson specifically. I did notice some minor pressure marks on two French polished guitars but I did leave the old Snark tuner in situ for long periods and the marks were easily polished out. I had no issues on Ibanez guitars at all. This new tuner will sit on a Cordoba dolce headstock most of the time and so far no marks but it’s only been on a couple of days. I didn’t know whether the Gibson thing might have been a bit of a poke at Gibson - The Gibson’s I have owned and played weren’t that great with intonation etc.. The odd pressure marks came off easily with Mr.Sheen (natural) and microfibre cloth.
For the cost of around £20.00 this is the best value clip on tuner there is.

An update in Nov 2020. Still the best and have come done to £14.99. I now have a third and they function perfectly and have NO issues with marks on the headstocks other than my comments in 2018.

Snark tuners are simply great, and this new model is no exception. There is only one small thing which I DON'T LIKE about this tuner. It just happens to be the same on, as far as I know, on all Snark tuners. That is the ON/OFF switch. where it is placed, it is very prone to be accidentally switched on by the unit being pressed up against another object.

This has happened to me several times when I have put it away in a gig bag with other items. Result a flat battery. This in my opinion could be easily solved by using a slidable on/off switch and not a push button type. So come on Snark, make your product even better and change the on/off switch type.

Such a huge improvement on using the old “pitch pipes” method of tuning my guitar! I could never get the hang of that and always needed a friend to tune for me, as I don’t have the ear to do it.
This Snark digital tuner is fantastic though.
Simply clip the small, light weight gadget on top end of guitar and twizzle it round (ball joint) to view the readout.
It took me a little while to get the hang of tuning gently to get within the lines. I also realised that new strings need tuning more often. Once I got the hang of it, then I found it so easy to use.
I’m using it on a steel string acoustic guitar.
I’d highly recommend this to anyone who can play a guitar but doesn’t have the natural ear to tune by pitch.

I really like this tuner. It's so fast it makes it quick to check tunes, and the reaction speed to string pull is spot on. It has a one touch button to turn on and off (not press and hold like cheap models), auto turn off if you forget, clear and large screen and noticeably accurate tuning. I've compare with my cheap free tuners I have with several ukuleles and this is reading spot on where others usually read flat. By ear, the tune is spot on when it says and I've tested with a piano to ensure its right and I cannot fault it (whereas my others usually are sharp when tuned to their 'spot on'). Considering the price, it's a no brainer. This is a worthy purchase! I've not tried a super expensive tuner but after this, why would I? It's so good it doesn't need me to replace!
