Snark tuners are simply great, and this new model is no exception. There is only one small thing which I DON'T LIKE about this tuner. It just happens to be the same on, as far as I know, on all Snark tuners. That is the ON/OFF switch. where it is placed, it is very prone to be accidentally switched on by the unit being pressed up against another object.
This has happened to me several times when I have put it away in a gig bag with other items. Result a flat battery. This in my opinion could be easily solved by using a slidable on/off switch and not a push button type. So come on Snark, make your product even better and change the on/off switch type.
Bought this to tune my banjo. Played guitar for yonks so can tune that just starting out on the banjo so need some help. It grips the headstock and tucks away around the back so you can leave it attached whilst playing and not look like a newbie. It is accurate and has lots of features including switch to move from vibration to microphone. This gadget could tune anything - except a fish. (you can't tuna fish) I highly recommend this tuner,it even has a metronome built in. Especially good for new players.
Bright screen and easy to use. Chromatic tuning, so it works with any instrument - have used this successfully with ukulele, guitar, bass, and even recorder! The ST-2 is the better model over the ST-8 as the ST-2 features tuning via microphone in addition to the vibration tuner. The downside to this tuner is the ball joint breaks very easily if you drop or knock it (I've gone through a couple this way), but nevertheless this is an excellent tuner.
This is a great wee tuner for a bedroom guitarist like me. Only disappointment is that the metronome is visual; there's no audio, so fairly useless whether you're good enough to play with your eyes closed or need to look where you're putting your fingers.
Recommended as a tuner, but don't choose it because of the metronome.
I was recommended this model to allow for different tuning on an electric guitar.
Out of the box and for standard tuning, it’s a great bit of kit. Easy to get it on and the display is really clear, day and night. From an accuracy point of view, it is the best I have used to date. There is a warning inside, and in other reviews here, about damage to the coating of guitar if the unit is left on all the time. For me, there is an easy solution to that.
I haven’t given it 5 stars due to the flexibility of tuning. The whole reason I was looking for a digital tuner was to allow different tuning, dropped D or half down etc. While the tuner will do this for you, it reads the tuning as a htz value so you need to know these for the tuning you want rather than like other tuners where you select the alternative and tune the guitar.
i bought this tuner which i liked. It keeps good tuning....also did not take long to tune up properly once i got used to how it worked....I thought it could have been made a lot smaller as if you have a small Ukulele which is what it was bought for..as it was advertised as Guitar/Ukulele etc....It looks too large on my Uke..i would prefer it to blend in with a small instrument
I have had this Snark Tuner before. My last one lasted years until I accidentally snapped the swivel neck. It has many features, but I have to say that I only use it to tune my guitar. If this purchase operates like my last Snark Tuner, then I will be very happy. From my experience, I can highly recommend this brand of tuner.
I purchased this to replace a tuner for my Bb clarinet. The reviews and specification state that it is suitable for all instruments and it has a transposing function. This is only partially correct. There are very limited transposing facilities and they are intended for guitars with capos, not for general wind instruments in Bb, Eb, A, etc. Therefore you have to use concert pitch when tuning.
Otherwise it seems fine. I would have sent it back but I'd marked it with my id before I realised.
Great tuner, I use this for my mandolin and it is very accurate, strong clip stops it moving on the instrument, screen is very clear and the tuner is very easy to use, you can also change the frequency to fine tune (not that I have changed it) over all very good small piece of kit and would highly recommend.
I'd heard good things about Snark clip-on tuners so thought I'd try this as it would cover all my various instruments. I had a cheap clip -n tuner bought from Amazon which went through batteries like mad, the Snark is excellent in all aspects. Highly recommended
