In general I really like this product as it keeps food fresh for longer and no flies get on it in the summer. It is more like a necessity now than a luxury.
That's why when it stopped working properly after 4 years (yes I have changed the batteries, still the same) I immediately went on Amazon and purchased a new one.
It had lasted just over 4 years. Is that good or bad? For a Cambridge single purpose design one would expect it to last longer, but oh, it is manufactured in China and only has a 2 years warranty so maybe it's not so bad.
To compare with the old one, design and size seem to be exactly the same. It is less noisy though which is good. Still come with the useless plastic bowl that can't go in to the dishwasher and doesn't stack snuggly into another one (unlike the stainless steel ones that you have to buy separately), and batteries are NOT included of course!
It is not the easiest to clean especially the fold bit, the rubber bit seems to get moldy in the inside. Thickness is perfect for my cats so no complaints in that department.
Oh another good thing - it is actually cheaper to buy now than 4 years ago! And let's hope this one lasts longer than the previous one.

Cat has been using this for around 6 months now and it is still on its first set of batteries (which is decent considering I think I've managed to activate it more than the cat has due to not having a lot of space to get by it right now). Cat had pretty much no issues with it and we've also been visited by a neighbourhood cat (who doesn't seem to get fed much at home really) who has also had his head in it with no issues at all!
Overall the cat is happy with it and so am I. Keeps his food fresher than if it was just sitting out with no protection and that is what I wanted.
After getting a bin full of maggots in the summer we needed something to keep the flies off the cat food! This has worked well, we use one bowl for 2 cats. The only downside is it closes when one of the cats is eating (she’s black, the other one who has no problems has a white chin which potentially activates the sensor better?) I did message the manufacturer and they advised me how to change a sensitivity setting, which helped but didn’t completely eliminate the problem.
Our kitten soon got the hang of this feeder - we used the built in training mode to teach her.
We find the unit easy to replenish and to keep clean. And i am sure that it will help to keep food fresher during the warmer months - not that there is usually any food left!

I bought it for my picky cat that doesn't finish her wet food fast enough causing it to dry up and start smelling. She quickly adapted to the mechanism without even needing the training mode (and mind you she's usually difficult).
The product works perfectly for what I needed it for. Be careful not to place it anywhere near the pet's other bowls as it gets very annoying for them having it open when they're trying to get a drink of water.
I have been using it for 6 weeks now, the original batteries are still going. The lid started squeaking a little bit, but after cleaning it, it stopped.
This was purchased after we noticed fly eggs on our cats food. She likes to nibble on her food throughout the day but leaving it out was no longer an option. This feeding bowl has fixed that, it is easy to set up, not big or chunky like I was imagining. Our cat is very timid but is absolutely fine eating from this, the lid opens and closes at a steady pace so not to spook her. There is a training mode on it which we never had to use, she went straight to it. We can now leave her food out throughout the day without worrying or constantly checking for flies. It also keep her wet food looking much fresher. My only SLIGHT niggle is that you have to buy a split dish separately. A choice of single or split would make this product perfect.
At first we were ready to throw this in the bin as it behaved erratically, failing to open when required and closing on the cat while he was feeding. Fortunately the manufacturer's help service was able to give us an undocumented way of making it more sensitive and now it seems to be fine. Why this isn't in the manual is a mystery. Anyway, the cat's failry resilient and hasn't been put off the bowl so all's well.
Cats have to get use to this , not always my Cat wont to eat out of it , and you have to set the settings right for opening and closing this is a littel trickey to start with , but can be sorted out .........
Hat also funktioniert.

Third one of these I've had as there isn't anything similar available. First two lasted about 3 years before they started failing. These work fine for our black & white cat, but rarely senses the black cat, we have to press the manual open button so he can eat. Quite frustrating
