This belt has made a huge difference on my heavy belly. I'm 25 weeks pregnant with my 4th baby. Even though my abs were in great condition, from working out before I got pregnant, naturally my body needed a little relief. This belt hugs my belly really well, I'm a size 8 and have a fit body shape. It still has plenty of room to expand for the next three months as my belly grows. I should have bought this for our second child because I could barely walk in my third trimester! This is wonderful! Dont hesitate — the quality is great and it will help your heavy small to medium sized belly.
°°ONE MONTH UPDATE°° I'm now currently 28 weeks pregnant, having wore this everyday to do all my normal stat at home mom tasks. I'm on my feet constantly with homeschooling my 7 yr old, keeping up with my energetic 4 yr old and potty training my 2 yr old. This band makes a world of a difference! I wear it all day and when I take it off in the evening to relax with my husband, I literally can tell a difference when walking around a small amount. I'm so sore without it!!! My kids call it my big band aid...ha! I rave about it to my husband all the time and cant believe I made it through three other pregnancies without one. It still fits snugly and does not budge throughout the day. I'm very much needing it my last less than 90 days before baby comes!! Get this if you need convincing!
I bought this band to have something immediately for support. My back was sore but mostly my low belly, hip and pubic area were killing me after a few hours of walking. This was just at the end of the first trimester, so I wasn't even bursting yet. I walk a lot for my work (nursing), and I needed something to help keep me on my feet the entire day. I was thinking I would buy several Belly Bandits to replace this "temporary band" once they arrived.
Surprisingly, this belly support was way comfier than I thought. It immediately gave me the required support and alleviated my aches and pains. Together with an electric blanket that I use at night, I was able to get through the early growing pains with no issue.
This band is comfortable, easily bends and shapes to your body (and belly), has enough stretch and elasticity to add as much or as little compression you'd want, and it's cheap. It stays put no matter what you do: walking, bending, sitting, even yoga. The velcro has enough strength to hold you in no matter how tight you want it to be. Compared to the Belly Bandit 2-in-1 Bandit, I actually prefer this band due to its comfort and soft texture. The 2-in-1 bandit digs into my hips and back when I sit, doesn't stay put if I bend or sit, is made of rough materials and doesn't conform as nicely as this band. It is also twice the price.
The 2-in-1 bandit was such a disappointment that I immediately returned it the day I got it. I will just be getting 2 more of this bands then I won't have to worry about laundry days.
The Jill and Joey band isn't very tall so it's perfect for petite women or women with short torsos. I feel like the Belly Bandit ones are made for taller women, which explains why the bands dig into my thighs/hips/back. I also got the Upsie Belly, which is made of softer material, like the Jill and Joey maternity belt. I kept that one for when I get bigger and is comfortable albeit a bit too tall for my short 5'5" frame. It can dig into my back when I sit if I don't position it precisely. And lastly, I also got the V-sling from Belly Bandit, which is made from soft neoprene. I also kept that due to the possibility of pelvic pain in the future. One may use it solely as a belly band, but it doesn't offer a thick/tall area for the belly so it doesn't offer much support in that region compared to the Jill and Joey.
For washing belly bands, don't forget to close up the velcro side so it won't ruin your other clothes.
Overall, I enjoyed this purchase. The quality, comfort, and pain relief it offered surprised me. And it really works! I recommend it to people who walk often with the occasional sitting and bending. It's soft enough to even do yoga with.
Bought this for my wife because she kept tossing and turning at night because she couldn't get comfortable. She already owned Jill and Joey's belt and was very happy with it, so it was worth a shot to try their pillow too. She had tried the big pillows, but those weren't of much help because they were simply too big for in bed. This little pillow gets my wife comfortable so she and I can finally get some sleep. She brings it with her on her commute too and uses it in the office. When my wife is not using the pillow, I sometimes use it too on the couch. It feels of very high quality because it is soft to the touch, but is nice and firm to offer proper support.
I think the quality of the product was great. Came in a nice pouch. I bought it in July, at 24 weeks because I needed some support. As excited I was for it to arrive it was to big. Loose around my waist. I thought maybe a little more time. I am 34 weeks now and still not very supportive. May be great for bigger belly but wish they could accommodate my frame. Trying to contact seller but could not find info unfortunate I had to wait and see if it would fit to miss my return/refund window. Now I have a support band that is not so supportive. it is just going to collect dust. Had high hopes but depending on service to my claim I may change my rating. But right now no luck.
I was looking for a present for a pregnant friend of mine and since she had been complaining about a sore back I did some research as to what could help. After Googling a bit, I came across the Jill and Joey website and decided to get both of their products because they seemed like thoughtful gifts. I really love their packaging and branding, makes it an even better gift! I saw my friend yesterday and she has been using this belt for a week now and said it was the best present she got in forever. The swelling in her feet went down and her lower back is not bothering her as much as before.
Pros: - fits well - easy to put on - wide band but still looks fine under my clothes
Cons: - not very breathable. I bought it originally to help with round ligament pain during my runs. It helped the pain minimally and made my stomach super sweaty. - it rides up when I’m doing squats, which makes me uncomfortable. It’s not bad for when I’m doing deadlifts but I don’t need the support during deadlifts.
I’m 21 weeks pregnant but very obviously showing. I will give it another shot once I’m even bigger and the round ligament pain gets worse. If it improves, I will update my review
UPDATE: 33-34 weeks pregnant now and using this band a lot more. I'm still unable to run/squat with this band but it does alleviate a lot of the pain from just walking around. My ligament pain is worse now that I'm bigger so I no longer regret this purchase. I changed it from a 3 star to 4 star review. It's now summer time in Arizona (think triple digit temperatures CONSTANTLY) and this band remains not breathable. However, for the price and pain relief, I'll tolerate it and I wear it outside my shirt when I'm exercising. It has not lost elasticity or shape with machine washes.
Very comfortable, and allows for movement. I'm a teacher aide in Early Childhood - I bend over, sit on the floor, sit on short chairs, play outside, etc. This band is supportive without restricting my ability to move around in various positions.
I don't find it difficult to do the Velcro closure at my back, even with short arms. I used the bedroom mirror the 1st time to check how things lined up, after that I know by feel. If your shoulders are less flexible or you struggle a bit, you could close the belt on your side and then move the belt to the proper place. I find it can be moved over my maternity pants easily enough. Thankfully, once in place it doesn't move unless you choose to move it.
As an added touch for customer service, the belt is nicely packaged in a permanent Ziploc-type bag with a helpful card on how to use and how to contact customer service.
Well-made product at a very adorable price. The small touches bring it up several notches. I will purchase from this business again, especially when I need a wedge pillow.
I have no idea why I waited until now to try a support belt. Currently I am 31 weeks with my second baby and have had so many issues. The midwife says that because of my petite stature there is excessive pressure on my veins. This has caused pain, varicose veins all over my right leg and numbness. Within two hours of putting this on the pain was greatly reduced as was the swelling in the veins. I should have bought this for my first pregnancy. It takes a few tries to get it adjusted right but once you figure it out it isn’t hard. I was worried that it wouldn’t fit because I am so small, 5’1” and 95lbs pre pregnancy, but it fits really well. There is plenty of extra length though so it would fit a large range of sizes. It is soft, light and flexible. I didn’t find it restricted my movement at all and it doesn’t bother my rather sensitive skin. It is most comfortable over a shirt but it’s still soft enough to wear directly against the skin. Some of the negative reviews complain of it rolling or slipping down. If you don’t get it adjusted right or wear it over a super stretchy fabric then it can work its way down but once you get it right it isn’t an issue. Just keep trying. Overall I am very happy I purchased this one and not one of the more expensive options.
This belt is amazing! At 36 weeks I would not be able to continue to do my workouts without it! My baby boy has been way down the majority of my pregnancy, pulling on my back...my back pain has been intense...this belt has made my pregnancy much more comfortable! I really like how thick the band is...it cradles my growing belly perfectly and holds up/supports baby’s weight super well...it’s stretchy not stiff...and breathable not hot. The sewn edges can be scratchy directly against your skin, so I just put it on over my pants or shirt and it stays in place really well! I would not be able to pick up things off the ground like the 8 month old (who weighs 19 lbs) that I watch without this baby on! Thank you for this amazing, comfortable product! I’m so glad I went with this particular one! I love it! I can even see myself using it post-pregnancy if I need support or don’t quite have my abdominal strength back. Best purchase so far during my pregnancy!
I'm 29 weeks pregnant and had just about given up going for runs. I just wasn't feeling "secure" while running anymore, and I would experience instantaneous soreness in my hips and bum right after a run. I bought this maternity belt based on good reviews, and yesterday I ran 5 miles on trails like it was no big deal! I wore this over a pair of maternity active leggings, then had a shirt over it. I barely knew it was there - no sliding at all, and I almost forgot I was pregnant til I noticed some stares from a few hikers. I'm so glad I bought this and am feeling a renewed sense of hope for this final pregnancy stretch!
