They must change the formula they use for this product every now and again. I have been using this basting spray for years and never had a problem until recently. For some reason, it will not stick with some fabrics. This is very frustrating when you are making quilts. Also, this recent version smells really bad so make sure you are in a well ventilated area. I was using this in my basement and my daughter could smell it upstairs and it started giving her a headache.
This is very good for spraying adhesive to an applique when sewing. It works very well and stays on great. The smell is not too bad, although I recommend taking it outside to spray. I will say it is kind of a pain that the nozzle gets clogged up very quickly and is a real pain in the neck to unclog it. But that's the nature of this beast. You will need to run it under VERY hot water for several minutes, and scrub the best you can to unclog it.
I am a first time buyer of this adhesive. I am amazed with this product. I am putting an X in the center of each 3 layer square to hold everything together - I lightly sprayed the top and bottom of the batting. I had no gumming with this product. My squares look amazing and it was easier and faster sewing. I guess my biggest complaint was my hand was very sticky afterwards - I found rubbing almond oil into my hand got it off. Nail polish remover didn't do it.
Even spray and holds well. A little hard to redo if you don’t get get it smooth. Be sure to have everything where you need it. Before you smooth down. I where gloves cause it’s hard to get of the skin. But you want it sticky just wear the gloves. Protect other surfaces. Fumes not too bad not as strong as some some in fumes. But strong adherence.
I love using this product. It’s just tacky enough to hold quilt layers in place, and still allow for adjustment. I gave it a 4-star rating only because the last two bottles I purchased have loose sprayer caps that fall off. They still work - it’s just annoying.
