Transitioning to healthy hair routine: If you using synthetic hair products, it's important to use an Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse or Apple Silk Rinse for best results - removes the chemical build up in your hair. This process will restore the PH balances to your scalp for super healthy hair.
Try our Apple Silk Hair Rinse - an alternative to our best selling Apple Cider Conditioning Rinse, to remove the silicone plasticizers in commercial conditioners and the last residues of shampoo soap. Travel Friendly! Restores hair to healthy condition, relieves dandruff, helps hair grow strong, and perfect for transitioning to a shampoo bar. Includes the fruit acids found in lemons and apples, which are also used in foods for that mouth puckering sour taste, with real silk powder for an added smooth silky feel. It brightens and softens, to leave hair cuticles roughened by washing, flat and smooth for maximum shine potential.

Top international reviews
I have fine blonde hair which can be quite flat and gets oily quickly, so based on the description I thought this bar might be a good fit. However it leaves my hair feeling and looking quite greasy, especially if I don’t blow dry it. Judging by other good reviews, it must be down to my hair type.
It’s slightly on the pricy side but is a very large bar (probably about double that of my usual Lush bar) and so will last forever!
I use an apple cider vinegar rinse after washing to help remove the buildup, and that helps quite a bit. But I’m still not totally happy with my hair or the shampoo bar. I’m going to persist until the bars are used up (I’m less than halfway there, pretty good for two months!) I expect two bars to last 5-6 months total, washing 2-3x a week.
If anyone has tips, I’m all ears.
A little backstory first: I grew up living in homes where the source of water was from a well, fluoride free, decently clean water. 7 months ago my family and I moved from Minnesota to Texas, and to city living (not a fan!). Now our water is full of chlorine and other chemicals. For the first time in my life (almost 30 years) I had dandruff. We got a shower head filter for the water and that helped some. But then I decided to take the leap on shampoo bars because I had finally read and researched the ingredients in my shampoo and conditioner. I wanted something that wasn't filled with ingredient after ingredient after ingredient. I searched and read reviews and this one caught my attention. My husband and I brew mead (honey wine) and have done lots of research on the benefits of honey and everything that goes with it. Reading the ingredients of this and seeing that it uses honey and the beeswax basically had me sold, then there was the hops and beer. Got me.
Now about the product itself. First off, it smells amazing and not overpowering in my opinion. Great size bar, especially when you realize as you are washing that you really do not need a lot from the bar. As of right now, I have used it 3 times. The moment it was on my hair, my hair felt smooth. I held the bar and stroked from root to end until I felt that all my hair had some on, then lathered. And boy did it lather! It rinses out well, however because of other reviews I saw of build up I use pretty hot water to rinse. I don't feel any leftover residue in my hair, and my hair is mostly soft but it does feel a little dry. I did some research on their website before even using the product, and they recommend an apple cider vinegar (acv) rinse after your shampoo. I haven't tried it yet, but I will and will probably update with that result. In their how to video on their website they make sure to point out that if you have been using regular shampoo and conditioner, it will take time for your hair to adjust to not using those.
Because of the research I did, and the reviews I looked at, I cannot bring myself to give them anything less than 5 stars for this product. If you don't look things up then you might think this is a bad product and doesn't do what it should, but it does and it just takes time and sometimes another product in combination (like the acv rinse). I had thought about ordering straight from their website, but I'm in the US and they are out of the country so their shipping is high unless you buy a certain amount from them. Which I understand, because who wants to send something internationally that will make you lose money because of shipping costs? Overall, they are a great company putting out amazing products and I will definitely buy from them again!
Nice subtle scent
Assuming it lasts for as long as 1+bottles, good price
Does not wash out. My hair literally came out 10x greasier looking than it was when it went in. And I SCRUBBED it out. I have never worked so hard to clean my hair.
My hair when clean has no texture whatsoever. After using this, my hair was thick, slightly tacky, and somehow very staticy when used without conditioner. So, if you're trying to start dreads, this night be the product for you.
Pretty disappointed, would not recommend for fine, thin hair.
UPDATE: the greasiness and tackiness is improved by using MUCH more product, and washing more frequently, but for whatever reason my hair is still extremely staticy at the ends. I'm adding a star because i was able to resolve my number one complaint which was how greasy my hair was after washing. For what it's worth, I've probably used it for about 10 washes now which may be contributing to the improvement. Will update again if i notice more improvement
I'm not blown away by this bar, or a different one I purchased afterwards, but I do enjoy knowing I'm putting less plastic into the environment.
One thing I will note: the shampoo bar works well through my hair when I am lathering. When it is rinsed, it feels a bit waxy. The apple cider vinegar rinse is a must. After I rinse with apple cider vinegar and water, the waxy feeling is gone and my hair is left feeling super soft!
