The marketing (as usual) promises much! I have used this soap twice now, and too be honest I don't feel it's worth the price. I've used cheaper general soaps and don't see much difference of the hair and certainly NO shine as the marketing suggests.....buyer beware.
I love the ethos of this company and shampoo bars in general so I really wanted to like this bar, but unfortunately it just didn’t work well on my hair.
I have fine blonde hair which can be quite flat and gets oily quickly, so based on the description I thought this bar might be a good fit. However it leaves my hair feeling and looking quite greasy, especially if I don’t blow dry it. Judging by other good reviews, it must be down to my hair type.
It’s slightly on the pricy side but is a very large bar (probably about double that of my usual Lush bar) and so will last forever!
This didn't work for me, possibly because I have fine hair or possibly because I live in a hard water area. It left my hair feeling really waxy and unmanageable. It smells nice though and worked well as a soap instead! I won't be buying another.
I’ve tried to love it, but I just can’t. Since getting this shampoo bar and the apple vinegar bar from the same company, I’ve been using bar shampoo exclusively. I expected a transition/detox period, and yes, I did go through a phase where I my hair was really quite awful. I persisted. Two months later, my hair is better than during the first weeks, but I’m still not loving the shampoo. It leaves soap residue and my hair still feels oily after washing. Day two is better, as brushing tends to remove the soap buildup.
I use an apple cider vinegar rinse after washing to help remove the buildup, and that helps quite a bit. But I’m still not totally happy with my hair or the shampoo bar. I’m going to persist until the bars are used up (I’m less than halfway there, pretty good for two months!) I expect two bars to last 5-6 months total, washing 2-3x a week.
This is my first shampoo bar and unfortunately it did not work for me at all. I have fine, thin hair, and hard water. I've washed my hair with it 3x now, twice with conditioner and once alone.
PROS: No plastic Nice subtle scent Assuming it lasts for as long as 1+bottles, good price CONS Does not wash out. My hair literally came out 10x greasier looking than it was when it went in. And I SCRUBBED it out. I have never worked so hard to clean my hair. My hair when clean has no texture whatsoever. After using this, my hair was thick, slightly tacky, and somehow very staticy when used without conditioner. So, if you're trying to start dreads, this night be the product for you.
Pretty disappointed, would not recommend for fine, thin hair.
UPDATE: the greasiness and tackiness is improved by using MUCH more product, and washing more frequently, but for whatever reason my hair is still extremely staticy at the ends. I'm adding a star because i was able to resolve my number one complaint which was how greasy my hair was after washing. For what it's worth, I've probably used it for about 10 washes now which may be contributing to the improvement. Will update again if i notice more improvement
I still don't entirely know how I feel about this bar. I'm not use to shampoo bars... This bar leaves a funky film on my hair no matter how many rinses I do. The bar is a bit long from fitting into a soap container. I often have to battle to get the bar out of the soap container, it always sticks to the bottom bad. The shampoo bar it's self has not made my scalp sensitive or give me any rashes. I like it but I don't like it.. The bar does last a long time. I plan to keep using it in hopes that it's just me needing to get use to the bar or my hair needing to adjust to using a bar.
I did not like this shampoo. It left my hair dull and dry. I had a lot of tangles after using this shampoo. No, I don’t need to let my hair “adjust”. I had been using another brand of shampoo bar before this and that left my hair soft and manageable. It’s NOT Lush. I don’t use any sls or sles because they leave my scalp with sores and pimples. I also don’t blow dry or use any other product in my hair so none of those excuses will work. This shampoo bar is just not very good. On the bright side, it did clean my hair. So there’s that...
Not happy with this product. I had nice soft hair and it made it straw like and coarse after the first wash. My hair is breaking off and even with combing conditioner through my wet hair and letting it sit for a few minutes, I haven't been able to fix whatnot has done. Used it once and put it to the side to use for hand soap.
First day of use my hair felt great, but the second day it looked and felt like I had just poured oil straight on my scalp, leaving random spots throughout my hair with a thick coat of residue. I read a lot of reviews that recommended other products to help with this, but doesn't that defeat the purpose?
