I currently use a double edge razor and have used various shaving gels, foams and creams with it and this one tops them all.
The packaging as quite nice with an easy to open screw lid.
The product itself smells nice with a hint of a masculine smell but not too much.
The cream mixes in well when using a bowl and a brush and lasts for months as you don’t need a large amount to get a good lather.
It goes onto your face via a brush nicely and feels quite silky and just sits there. It isn’t too thick or too thin, it is just right (obviously can be Taylored to how you like).
When using this with a DE razor, I don’t get any razor burn at all (I use 2 passes).
I got a really good shave using this cream, even with a blade that must've been 2 or 3 weeks old. But I can't impose the strong aroma on the house again. Also, as I don't use after-shave and only use unscented deodorants, I was a bit uncomfortable imposing this smell on the general public around me. Shame.
Box is well designed to keep product moist and easier to use than tubes.
I imagine the scented box will be nice to use for something else when I have finished the cream!
Love the scent though it may not stay with you long, depending on whether you also use a scented after shave.
You only need the smallest amount on the bristles of a wet shaving brush and ideally a small bowl to lather it up and off you go. Leave it a few minutes to soften things up and shave away.
The only downside (splitting hairs here) is if you're brush isn't wet enough when you apply it to your face it can dry quickly on the face which makes things a little harder when shaving. But this is easily sorted by going over it again with a moist brush.
But an absolutely fantastic product.Necessary to have a shaving brush to apply it with, but this has given a consistently smooth, nick-free and surprisingly close shave. The smell isn't anything to write home about, but it's a nice fresh fragrance and does make shaving just that tiny bit more enjoyable. Quantity-wise there is a LOT, a tiny tiny amount goes a very long way (I use probably toothpaste-sized quantities for a full shave and am still washing excess out of the brush cup).
Only real downside is this does seem to have a mild drying effect on skin. I can't guarantee it's directly a result of this cream or just general weather/diet but I'd suggest people with super sensitive skin test it out first and maybe invest in some post-shave moisturizer.
This one is simply amazing. Tiny amount is enough. I prefer a little extra to go for three passes. After mon5hs of usage, the pot is still 80% full. It's definitely going to last for months to come.
Nice sandlewood scent, reminds of barber shop shave. I hope it helps.
And the smell - the traditional sandlewood has a wonderful clean clean aroma.
I usually buy mine from their Jermyn Street shop - but ordered from Amazon - same quality item.
This really is lush - thick, creamy, applies evenly, and makes for a smooth wet shave - use a quality badger brush with plenty of hot water and a sharp blade.
I have an extremely thick beard and all my life I have suffered with shaving rash regardless of how i prepared my beard for shaving. A friend of mine swears by this product and told me to try it. For the first time ever I achieved a perfect shave, no ingrown hairs or shaving rash and perfectly smooth face.
The lather comes up extremely thick, a little goes a long way. This pot will last you a good 4 months.
The smell is nice, it's totally subjective but regardless of which fragrance version you buy, this product is phenomenal.
Sure it costs more than a lunch just for a small tub of soap but I think it will last a long time for infrequent shavers.
