Book two in the Dreamsnatcher trilogy, we pick up Moll, Gryff, Siddy and Alfie’s adventure to find the Amulet of Truth and destroy the Soul Splinter.
Having left the forest for the safety of a secret cave, the Tribe are waiting for the Bone Oracle to guide their search for the second amulet. The Dark Magic is growing in strength, and it’s not long before the group have to leave the safety of their little cove. Only this time, it’s not just the Shadowmasks they have to defeat on their journey. And, as Alfie leaves the Tribe before they’ve even begun, Moll wonders who she can really trust…
The perfect mix of mystery, magic and menace, this book will cast a spell on you, snatching you away into a coastal world of smugglers, sinister creatures, and guardians of the old magic.
Full of friendship, hope and a delightful, and disturbing clutch of new characters, to both help and hinder the Tribe, and an opening which is slightly less gruesome than it’s prequel, The Shadow Keeper kept me perched on the edge of my seat from start to finish, and with The Night Spinner on pre-order, I just about have time for my nails to grow back before the final instalment.
Great for fans of Harry Potter, Eva Ibbotsen, Piers Torday, Michelle Harrison and Robin Jarvis

I hurtled through this book, sometimes holding my breath ...

I hurtled through this book, sometimes holding my breath but never detached, not for a moment, from its world. And what a world Abi Elphinstone draws - part magic (kelpies, charms, curses) but at the same time so real that you can taste the salt water and see the paint peeling off the hulls of the stacked up fishing boats. But at the heart of the stories are characters that are loveable as much for their weaknesses as for their strengths and especially Moll with ‘enough anger inside her to bring down a mountain’, charging at everything that comes her way (because ‘charging is more efficient’) trying to muddle through the ‘knots’ of growing up and work out how to trust and, especially, what is ‘real’. What is real? A big question in the hands of a special heroine and her friends - and a storyteller with boundless imagination.

Friendship and danger
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 April 2016Verified Purchase
What a brilliant continuation of the Dreamsnatcher story. Moll and her friends are back, but with some new characters and lots of new peril to face. The pace never lets up and the tension builds from chapter to chapter. Then, underying all the excitement and danger, is the friendship that binds the main characters. The strength of their connection forms a solid heart to the book. The author has a real talent for drawing the reader in until we care equally for all her characters. If that's not enough, there are killer owls and the cutest pet hermit crab ever. If you enjoyed Dreamsnatcher, you will love this book.

Quickly bought The Night Spinner and The Shadow Keeper after finishing book 1, The Dream Snatcher. A great trilogy of books which I have shared with my son. All books are a very exciting, edge of your seat read and perfect for engaging reluctant readers. A must have addition to any bookshelf.

Another amazing installment of the adventures of Moll and her friends. Abi Elphimstone has given us all we could ask for - adventure, friendship, strong family bonds, suspense and just the right amount of scary
