What kinds of activities need trekking poles?
Trekking poles are essential tools for walking, hiking, traveling, camping, backpacking, trekking, mountaineering.
Why do we need trekking poles on those activities?
1>According to studies, trekking poles can reduce compressive force on the knees by up to 25 percent.
2>Trekking poles allow your arms to help propel you forward and upward, whether walking on flat ground or uphill, poles can help to keep your balance, improve stability and increase your average speed.
3>They help to alleviate some of the weight you carry. For example, if you have a heavy pack on, and you take a short break, leaning on the poles will make you more comfortable.
4>They can act as a probe to give you more information than you can get with your eyes, use them to learn more about puddles, melting snow bridges and quicksand.
5>They can be used to deflect backcountry nuisances, such as thorny blackberries and swipe away spider webs that cross trails to ensure safety and comfort on your walk.

Product comes in a waterproof bag complete with shoulder strap for both storing and transporting.
Wrist straps and rubber handles at the top allow for great purchase of the poles themselves when in use. The straps can be adjusted to tighten up once your hands are in place. I must say these feel really solid.
The poles are extremely easy to extend and simply require a twist of the pole itself to lock in position. They extend to an absolute huge length so even the tallest person would be able to make use of these. To assist you get your correct length each time the poles have measurements printed down the side. Rubber feet at the end ensure there is no slipping when in use, although the option exists to have these are a sharp point depending on where you are using them.
All in all these are a great set of lightweight, very strong walking poles, great value for money.

Questions et réponses :

I must admit, I found them to be a great help on both ascent and descent, I watched a YouTube video on correct use first. You can take a bit of strain off your legs with these, but when placed carefully they helped with balance more than anything. My son snapped one of his, not realising that we had placed it between two rocks below the deep snow as he was walking. However, mine held up a treat.
I would certainly recommend these poles for hiking up or down any terrain.
First and foremost, I did manage to get up thanks to theses sticks but without issues.
As we started our march up, the rubbers came off repeatedly, slowing me down, the left pole began to twist and unwind, losing height thus slowing me down again.
On the way down, the end snapped off but i still had the stability to make it down but nevertheless, watching my friend with his poles having no issues annoyed me no end.
For doing the job, supporting me to the top and back, i say 5 out of 5 but for durability, for using these for the first time and breaking i say 1 star but Amazon have refunded my money without any issues after seeing my photos, hence the 2 stars.
Buy and use within the 30 days and know that you are covered if there is an issue.
Shame about these as i liked them, lightweight strong but not durable.
So, to try them out, off we went walking the dog. It is very muddy and therefore slippery around here and the poles were great to steady us as we walked. We used one each for this exercise, but will probably get another pair so we can use them properly.
They extent and retract beautifully. They are a little stiff at first but that soon goes With use and does not affect the pole’s ability to to keep their length without collapsing into themselves.
They also come with an accessory pack that made them more sturdy on different terrain. They would slip into a back pack easily, taking hardly any space. The poles themselves retract to quite small, easily fitting into a walkers backpack until needed.
The handles are shaped for the average hand, making them very comfortable to hold.
All in all this is a great product, well worth the money.
Bought as a Christmas gift for my father. Wanted to check that they were sturdy enough so opened them up. I extended one of the poles and tightened it up. Placed it on the floor and put a small amount of weight on it to replicate walking. Almost straight away it gave way, and one of the poles dropped out together with a small bit of broken yellow plastic disc.
That said, the other one seems to be ok. I hope that this was just a freak accident and flaw. I’m glad I tested these as I dread to think what would have happened to a 75 year old if it had given way whilst out on one of his country walks on uneven ground.
Not fit for purpose as a pair as a result. To late to return and get an alternative before Christmas so he’ll just get the one with an explanation until I can get this resolved as he has a walk planned for Boxing Day morning. Waste of money as if I wanted to get him just the one, I could have got him one. That said, at least one works and the little feet/broken pole can be used as spares.
The little bag seems to be the only thing that can be relied on.
Avoid if you ask me or just hope that this was a Friday afternoon assembly failure.
They take up little space thanks to their locking pin system and store nicely in the contained bag. With different ferrules to add depending on the terrain (although you could probably get away with one set for most surfaces), and sturdy, woven wrist hoops to secure them to my wrists, I'm more than happy with these sticks.
My dil bought hers on recommendation from fellow travellers, I've now bought mine on recommendation from her!
They are so much better than a walking stick. Because there are two, one is balanced and upright (I find the straps for the handles also very useful. ) One does not have to use anything other than the poles themselves to walk, though.
The poles are light, easy to adjust for one’s height and altogether very versatile.
I overcome the slight downside of not being able to carry something, by wearing a back pack bag which is stylish, weather resistant, light and holds stuff I may need. Then I have a small cross over bag in which I keep tickets, money, handkerchief etc for easy access.
As I cannot walk easily I can’t hike or use these poles but I’m sure they would be hugely useful especially with all the different ‘feet’ for varying conditions.
